I'm thinking about buying a 800cfm vortex fan...
From what i've been looking into I'm going to need about 150-200CFM for cooling, and I was thinking that i could speed control an 800cfm model since they're not that much more (and are rated at 54dBa, the 449cfm are rated at 49dBa)...
I was thinking I could get the 800cfm model and run it with a controller to about 150-200cfm... and this will make it a lot more silent?
Also the bigger ducting (8" vs 6") I figured would make it more quiet a little too?
I don't know this for a fact I've never used them before, that's why I'm looking for advice...
Is there something I should be aware of that i don't know about or anything when tuning down a fan? Like the 800cfm vortex is going to be wayyy too much, but I figure I'd rather pay $20 extra for the model that's 800cfm compared to the 440cfm model so I know it's gonna be enuogh air flow, and so I can tune it down and it'll be quieter than a 449cfm running at half speed?
Sorry I just don't know shiet about these and they cost like $150-200 and I don't want to have that be wasted $ (like a 800cfm fan running at 200cfm..will it have good static pressure or will this seriously compromise its sucking capability for a pass thru a carbon filter?
Thanks I really need some info,
