Cutting stem in bubble cloner has gone really soft

Hey there,

I took some clones four days ago and dipped them in rooting gel and popped them in a bubble cloner in PHed water with the appropriate amount of superthrive and rhizotonic.

There are no roots yet, but the leaves are still green and healthy. However, in one of the cuttings the stem (that's in the water) has gone really soft and weak, reminded me of an asparagus almost. The other stems on the other cuttings are still firm as normal.

I was wondering is this expected or is the stem becoming waterlogged or something?

I've noticed most RIU users have very inflated egos and feel that since they have 1 whole grow under their belts they shouldn't waste their time to help a fellow grower out. Shame on all of u. i took four cutting kind of as an experiment a while back an built a tupperware bubble cloner all four of the stems were nasty soft and only one ended up rooting at all. but if it starts to turn a nasty brownish color at the end of the stem thats in the water I would expect it to not root. Im no clone expert though so it may. Im pretty sure it wouldnt hurt if you left it there to try and root it. wish i could help more but from lil experiment, that nasty brownish gunk stuff on the bottom of the stem meant they were a gonner. sad. maybes thats why no one has posted. its hard to give a bleek prognosis to one of someone babies...

I know I don't want to bitch but it Just gets old wen som1 has 38 views and not one post. He is a fellow riu'er here to expand his knowlede of this incredible plant and most of you just have your heads up ur asses. S post doesn't take long and it makes the person feel better knowing there is som1 else out there on ur side trying to help you out. Don't we all need some of that occasionally?

thanks for your support tookie123 heh - aye smokeymcchokey you were right. i just tried to move two of the cuttings then and the damn stems came off in my hand. i assume they were too deep in the water and became waterlogged but I honestly dont know =( - total pain in the arse cause i topped my babies early so i could determine sex with the tops in order to do a scrog, and now they're dead, feels like I butchered my plants for nothing!

YOUR CLONES ARE GOING SOFT DUE TO YOUR ROOTING GEL. IN A BUBBLE CLONER YOU DON'T NEED OR WANT TO USE ROOTING GEL THAT IS MY OPINION - I'M SURE EVERYONES VARIES. I'VE BEEN CLONING A WHILE AND I HAVE TRIED CLONING GEL (ROOTECH) IN MY BUBBLE CLONER , BUT IT GOES SOFT. ALL YOU WANT TO DO IS USE PURE PH'D WATER! THATS IT! THEY WILL HOLD NICE AND FIRM TILL THEY ROOT. PEOPLE LIKE TO ADD SHIT IN THESE BUBBLE CLONERS... ALL THEY NEED IS WATER AND BUBBLES AND A LID. TAKE SOME NEW ONES... START OVER... i PH MY WATER TO 5.8 - AND I HAVE TO ADJUST IT DAILY TO KEEP IT THERE. GOOD LUCK! ALSO MAKE SURE YOU WATER LEVEL IS NOT TOO HIGH.. JUST ENOUGH TO COVER THE CUT NODES AT THE BOTTEM OF THE CLONE.

SAVE THE CLONING GEL FOR ROCKWOOL. I SOMETIMES TAKE A COUPLE ROCKWOOLS AND PUT THEM INSIDE MY DOME ON THE TOP. AND THE MISTING IS PERFECT CONDITIONS TO SPROUT IN ROCKWOOL INSIDE THE DOME. IF YOU WANT TO MAKE SURE SOME ROOT. i'D DO SOME IN WATER (BUBBLER) AND SOME IN ROCKWOOL. INCREASE YOUR ODDS OF SUCCESS.

I ha e a bulge in my stem about a quarter in up from the cut site on my clone. It looks healthy but is this a trapped bubble or roots getting ready to show? I will try to get a pic up soon.
