Question about MH/HPS lighting

Hi there. I have a question about the lighting for a grow room.
I am in a rush and have read a lot about lighting and would just like to clarify a few things:

I intend to buy this set up or something very similar for 2 plants or so. Would this be too much lighting?

Do Metal Halide Conversion lamps such as this work exactly the same as a normal MH?

There can never be too much light!

For two plants a 400 watt hps is plenty, they'll love that light!

You could go as far as to grow 12 plants under a 400 watt hps. But that might be pushing it a little.

That should work fine for 2 girls
For MH and HPS conversion you will
also need to make sure your ballast
will accept both types.
Most modern ballast will accept both MH and HPS
conversion Lamps.

I run a 600w ballast and have used 250w MH, 400w MH and 600w HPS
on it with no problems.

Make sure you read the manuals that come with it so you know what
lamps are suitable to be used and the watt range it will accept

HPS is good for flowering but have found the addition of some strategically placed daylight spectrum CFL's seems to make the plants happier. I think there is something misssing in the light spectrum from straight HPS which the plants need. Borders on being too much toward the yellow side perhaps. For vegging an array of CFL's works well.

just to clarify, most electronic ballasts can run different wattages up to its stated watt value in HPS or MH.
the older magnetic ballast can only run its stated watt bulbs and the type (MHorHPS) of bulb it is made for altho some(few) are made swithable to run either HPS or MH
