What up guys. This is vinceborg 2050. I have been given the luxury of documenting a friend's grow that he has asked me to help with. I've noticed there is a lack of afghani #1 grow journals out there (particularly for seedsman "original afghani").
This is gonna be my first grow and first journal. But the start of many good things to come. I dont have much experience writing this shit so pardon me if it is disorganized or doesnt contain the info you want. Also pardon my lack of terminology.
If you have tips, please contribute!!
If you have questions please ask
My setup.
Items for the setup
--5'x'5'x6' Tent
--Air cooled trapezoid shaped reflector with glass insert.
--6" Ducting
--A 440cfm 6" "Can Fan"
--A "Can 33" Carbon Filter attached to the 6" can fan and ducting, through the light and out the top of the tent into the room, with open windows and fans to exchange air with the rest of the house/outside.
--400 W MH Eye Hortilux Bulb with magnetic coil ballast.
--One cheap ass humidifier and a moderately expensive humidifier
--1000W Eye Hortilux HPS bulb with magnetic coil ballast
--Two 36W (power consumption) UV-B CFL bulbs (to be added later).
--Age Old Grow and Age Old Bloom Nutes
--Earth Ambrosia Fungi Supplement
I chose Afghani #1 due to my preference for as much couchlock as i could get (medical use) , and because I had heard from a lot of people that it is one of the most stress tolerant, easiest plants to grow. Also i love the idea of growing a landrace plant, and the short flowering time (hoping 50 days) helps due to our tight schedule.
So I started approximately 3 weeks ago. After a week of germinating, 30 afghani #1 seeds were placed in a mini greenhouse containing expandable soil pellets. They were then grown for a week inside the greenhouse under my MH and, following that, transplanted to their new homes in 1 gallon pots filled with fox farms ocean forest soil. Some of them did not survive the journey, as they had become extraordinarily leggy due to distance from my MH light during seedling stage. Some stems broke, and some of them may have died of dehydration during the cross-town journey to their final home.
Only 15-16 have survived, but they are doing well. They got really leggy, but I was able to plant them an inch or two down under the ground to stabilize them. They grew a good amount over the last week, going from only having one set of true leaves to having many sets.
We have been watering every 3-4 days when the soil feels pretty dry, and just last night we added a dose of Earth Nectar and Earth Ambrosia (around 80ml to each 1 gallon pot). For the uninformed, this is supposed to create fungi on the roots to increase nutrient absorption and yield.
Temperature and humidity have been steady, usually around 66 degrees and 60% at night, and around 76 degrees and 55% during the day.
Soon I will begin fertilizing. I'm gonna treat once more with Earth Ambrosia (cause we forgot to shake it up when we applied it last time and may not have gotten much culture), and then let it settle in for a few days, then start with Age Old Grow once a week or so.
We are on a limited time schedule (sucks for a first grow, right??), so we are going to vege for 4 more weeks and then begin flowering. Hoping to get 8 females and put them in 4-5 gallon pots to take up a lot of the space in our tent.
Let me know what you guys think of this yellowing in the leaves. It's not very hot, and the leaves are only 17" from the light, but they do not get hot. They may be strained for nutrients due to their roots probably only recently breaking out of the "pucks" into the rich soil, but what do i know . Or maybe the humus in the earth ambrosia has burned them. Who knows. i also hear that leaves being a little yellow in the first few weeks is okay.
Let me know what you think.
And without further ado, here are the pics!!!
