Yellow Cotyledons

Hey y'all, I've been doing this for 32 years (outside) but I never had this kind of yellowing this early before.

Could it be overwatered? I have it under a 100w CFL 5 inches away. The temp is cool. I have never had luck growing indoors, and right now I'm off to a bad start again.




The pic is 1 day old; this morning they were even yellower. I used to always keep the seedlings in wet soil, perhaps this one likes a dryer medium?

The soil does look saturated. Let the soil dry out a bit and just keep it damp, not soaking wet. Plants need to be able to breathe and not drown. Also....what kind of soil is that? Looks very black...?

The soil is Miracle Grow, which I suspected may have been too toxic for the seedling. But when it germed, I didn't have FF's Ocean Forest soil yet....so I had to put it in something. I now have a better soil for when I transfer the seedling into a pot.

That's different from my stuff. You bought the kind with extra nutes in it I guess. Mine doesn't say nutes up to 3 months. Mine also has the nute content reading of
0.14-0.14-0.14

I ordered seeds years ago, and when they arrived, all I got was a cheap pair of gardening gloves. I looked and looked and finally gave the gloves to my wife to use on her Orchids. I was disgusted and confused on why they had sent me these gloves. Ten long minutes later she came back inside and showed me the seeds, which were cleverly hidden inside the hem. :lol:

get it out of that soil, first stick narrow dow rods all around the pot and try to drain as much as you can. Once you've done that, pull that plant out and get a well drained pot with a combo of 2 parts moss,one part sand (horticulture), one part perlite or sponge rock,to each 4 gallons of soil. Test your PH of soil and water, and if you have to raise the PH a bit, add 1/2lb. to cubic foot of soil to raise the PH one point. If drainage is still an issue use some coco in tthe mix. Good Luck. and yellow cotyledons will go away rather quickly unless problem resolved,

I think they're toasted folks, thanks for the help. Now I am part of the MG hate club, but it's my fault. It sucks that Lowes, Home Depot or anything close don't have shit for good MJ growing. For those who are close to a nursery or hydro store, feel grateful.

The good news is that it was bagseed from Hawaii. Purchased seeds will get 110% intelligent and loving treatment. :leaf:

I've successfully rooted out seedlings in pure perlite, no soil at all. The seedling will feed itself in the beginning. Next time eh? :wink:
