The right Kelvin?

Hi Guys

does anyone know if "Osram L36W/840 Active 3350lm" is in the range of 5000K to 6500K and suitable for vegetation?
I have been searching with no luck. It says on the lamp that it is "Daywhite" but I don´t know if it is just another twist of names for commercial purposes or the real thing.

I have eight AK-48s. I am not going to veg them more that two weeks so I want to get the most out of these two weeks.

The problem is that it doesn´t say anything on the lamp!
I have been at their site but could not find anything on this lamp.

When I did a search for Osram L36W/840 Active 3350lm, this thread was googles first search return.

To answer your question, it looks like its a basic t8 flourecent bulb, 36 inches long. It should be fine for now. But I would reccomend HPS/MH pretty soon. Good luck

"Do what you can to avoid bulbs within that 3500K – 4000K because they emit very little light that Is useful to your plant".
So I should probably look for alternatives then.
By the way where did you find this info?

I have an 400w HPS GroLux and my seedlings are three days old.
When do you think is a good time to change the light? As I mentioned before I don´t want to veg them more than two weeks maybe I need more time?

If you're not sure, I wouldn't use them, especially if you want to get the most out of a two week veg. If those bulbs are 4100k, thats about the least desireable light you would want to give your plants.

Personally, I learned my lesson a while ago. I always make sure that the bulbs I am buying have the kelvin rating printed right on the package. I don't leave anything open to speculation or guesswork. I don't even go by the terms "daylight", "softwhite", etc. I go by the color temp, and if the package doesn't have it printed on it, I'll pass.

the pics of your lights look like they are in the red spectrum, wrong for veg
You should be in the 6500K range

put that in your search to find them, (it's how I find them)
google the type and size and spectrum ie: f48t8 6500k

T8's (in the right spectrum) are fine for seedlings and clones, you'll want more light after 3 weeks
cfl's work great but as I say in al my lighting post check out Ceramic Metal Halide works for both veg & flower and has uv, does not have the heat issues
