I have a g13 haze from barneys farm. It is a sativa dominant. I am now 5 weeks into a 12 week flowering. can i increase the light hours by one hour to 13 hours on and 11 hours off??? i want to do this because 2 days every week the plants get 16 hours dark instead of 12. so thats 8 hours of light less every week. so to compensate i wanted to add 1 hour to the reamining 5 days. this would claw back 5 hours every week out of the 8 lost hours of light every week. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

16 hrs dark? Why? The stress of that is more important than the lost lumens.

necessity dictates!! I ofcourse wouldnever do such a thing (16 hours dark) bt i acnnot do anything about it. im not around and i cannot have the lights on for the full 12 hours so they are on for 8 hours and off for 16 hours 2 days every week. i have decided to squash in another 2 hours and make it 14 hours dark and 10 hours light for those two days. But That is really stretching it, believe me and i dont want to jeopardise my the whole thing. PLEASE HELP ME!! Can i increase the lights by 1 hours every night so a to cover up the lost hours of light during those two days???????????OR WILL THIS EXTRA HOUR MAKE THE PLANT REVERT BACK TO VEGGING???? OR MAYBE IT MIGHT CONFUSE AND STRESS THE PLANT OUT EVEN FURTHER AND MAKE MY DARLING GO HERMY ON ME??? PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME, I WILL NOT ADD THE EXTRA HOUR OF LIGHT UNTIL I GET SOME DECENT FEEDBACK!!!

since you have a sativa dominant and the fact thats its been on 12 hours of darkness i would not change a thing. sativa dominant plants have the majority of their genes (in most cases) from sub tropical and tropical regions of the world where the lighting only slightly varies from 12/12 all year. some varieties you even have to put on an 11 light /13 dark cycle to get them to flower. if you really are worried about the extra darkness grow somewhere that your lighting schedule doesnt matter... other than that i would just leave it alone man, you dont want a hermie...

I agree. If the OP is concerned about light the best way is to add more light not more hours.

You cant use a timer to make it 12/12 all the time for flower? You say you cannot have the lights on for a full 12 hours but your exceeding it by 4 hours 2 days out of the week. If your plants recieve more then 14 hours of light during flowering its gonna confuse the plant and stress the crap out of it. If you cant do 12/12 inside maybe try finding a place outside the 16 hours of light alone will induce your plants into hermie, shifting light cycles wont "make up" for any lst time that you lose or gain on other days its just gonna make the situation worse. Your pissing your plant(s) off fix it!:-P

man in my last grow i grew some of those g13xhaze from barneys and they got soooo frikkin tall. those 2 plants went crazy. i flowered them at 2 feet and they ended up just over 51/2 feet tall. the buds got so heavy that i had to tie up the branches to the ceiling...and the quality of the end product was amazing....super strong. the only thing i didnt like was the high leaf to calyx ratio. i find that with the skinny skinny fingered leafs they tend to take up a lot of the bud. id rather the buds be less leaf....violator kush had amazing amazing leaf to calyx ratio. all flowers no leafs....good luck bro

I dont think you understand, The plant gets 16 hours of dark for 2 days a week not 16 hours of light. so the plant is getting less light for 8 hours every week and 8 hours darkness extra every week!! understand. !! I Thank you for your reply, I think the answer has been provided above!

I've been out of the biz for many years, now, legally re-entering. very early stages, (with minimal equipment somewhat unknown quantity as far as strains), right now. I qualified my response with that to say "Hi, I'm new to the board" and to suggest, (drawing from memory 20 years ago), you're really just confusing the plant, from what I understand. I would be interested as to why, but understand that might not be something you want to post. and maybe I'm not up to speed on the whole conversation. that said; brother, if it were me, I'd find a grow site where I could give my girls exactly what they need/want to the VERY maximum, at exactly the right time, to the exact specific needs of the strain. horticulture is a science, and if you can, follow a scientific approach. if ya can't, (perhaps because of grow site location??) find another site to grow? sorry if I'm out of line here guys, first post, and only been reading for about 3 weeks.

If anything i have learnt that th eligting schedule is truly a FUNDAMENTAL aspect of indoor growing. In future if i am not able to provide the required ligting schedule i will not undertake a grow op. MKAY 420 has the answer and has understood what is happening. The plants are recieving 8 hours of light less every week so they are actually ripening faster but growing in size weight less!! DAMN DAMN!! SO my total yield will be significantly reduced! DAMN DAMN! I think i will leave her alone a sshe is already stressed out getting 2 days a week when the light is only 8 hours instead of 12. This makes her think that winter is coming up real fast then 2 days later she again gets 12 hours of light so she thinks that summer is coming again because the hours of light are incraesing. I am really confusing the poor thing growing INDOORS the lighting schedule is FUNDAMENTAL. I am only a learner and have learnt a tremondous amount during the last few months. I THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR INPUT> PEACE AND BLAZE IT AWAY MY BROTHERS

I'd be worried about your females going herm...

I wouldn't goto 13/11, as that's just another change in their cycle... the 2 days of less light is allready bad enough... just keep it where it's at and cross your fingers...

or as mentioned, add more light...

Seems strange, but in flowering I would never increase light....only decrease.

BECAUSE I HAVE TO!! OBVIOUSLY IF I DID NOT HAVE TO I WOULD NOT BE CHANGING THE PHOTOPERIOD FOR 2 DAYS EVERY WEEK. ITS NECCESSITY. HENCE I AM TRYING TO DO WHAT I CAN TO MAKE THINGS BETTER AS FAR A POSSIBLE.

Using caps is very rude, especially when ppl are trying to understand and help your situation. And no you dont have to, you dont even have to grow at all but it is your choice so please try to tone it down a bit and be a little more respectful to ppl who reply to your threads.

i was rude on purpose, that Ludacris guy left a rep for me saying 'You know jack shit you dick' hence i gave him the treatment he deserves. And you are ridiculous if you believe i would change the photoperiod if i did not have to,I change the lights due to neccessity. SOMETHING S BETTER THAN NOTHING!! but yes i get your point!! in future i iwill simpy not reply to such nasty people making such nasty remarks!!

Also JeffDog! If Ludacris had bothered to read my whole thread he would have found this detailed explanation as to why i have to change photoperiod 2 days every week, so as not to jeopardise the whole grow).
