Whats so special about the CAN FANS?

Just wondering why theyre priced so much higher then most inline fans and if they are worth the money?

Good question... I picked up 6" and 8" HO can fans recently and I don't think the quality is any better than my old fantech fan.

Really? Good to know. Im looking at this valuefan for $80 right now. Has anyone had any problems with these fans?

I believe the higher priced can fans are used because they are designed to handle the resistance of sucking air through an air filter. Using a weak inline fan like the one the ones you can buy at Home Depot for $30 may be ok for intake but not for exhausting long distance or through some sort of an air filter. That is the way I understand it anyway.

can, vortex, any nice centrifugal fan is sufficient.

The CanFan's are spec'd to run at a higher ambient temp than the EcoPlus fans. I can't find temp specs for the Vortex on their website.

CanFan: 185F
EcoPlus: 122F

Seems like an attic installation could be problematic with the EcoPlus.
