hello everyone,
my first attempt, she is about 6 weeks old now and has been in the 12/12 cycle now for 9 days.
using foxfarms ocean forest soil, and now 2- 24w 3000k t-5 fluoro tubes, i havent used any kind of nutrients other than whats already in the soil..she gets water about once a week usually
the strain is called velvet bud...
i didnt see that there was a grow journal forum and put this same thread in the newbie forums, i think it belongs here though

comments, or suggestions?

Well if you don't know by now, she is a girl

Stick with what you are doing and she should turn out great

Foxfarm should have enough nutes for 6-8 weeks

So get some organic bloom fertilizer and start her off a little at a time

thanks...any ideas for n-p-k values i should look for in a fertilizer that would go good with my ffof soil?
i have read that Peter's African violet which is 12-34-16 is a good one.......when i do get some nutrients, should i start off giving her the full strength per the directions on bottle with every watering or half strength every other watering..or....thanks for any suggestions...

shes big enough for full strenght i use the fox farms trio pack seems to work well for me.

what size bucket is that in already? looks like a 5 gallon bucket. what will you be transplanting into? plant shouldnt need more then 5 gallons

Thanks..yes i will make sure that whatever i get its organic..i am just hesitant to get any at all since she has been doing so well on her own without any so far...anyone have any ideas as to how long after she is in 12/12 and has the little 2 white hairs all over that they will start turning into actual buds?

they will start popin out at all bud sites and get fatter as it grows id say you have bout 4 to 8 weeks left mayb more.

Because he is using foxfarm soil which is organic

If you use chemical fertilizers in organic soil you will kill the microbes that feed the plant

she is still making more 2-white hairs at all the little nooks and crannies...but they dont look like buds yet.....
i found this fertilizer: http://www.thegrowstore.com/detail.asp?itemnumber=1433 ...would this be a good one as i cant find peters african violet or neptunes harvest here in town
