Building a GROW BOX - Where to position the EXHAUST and INCOMING VENT

Not sure if I'll have two fans. But one definitely for the exhaust. If i have a VENT should it be below my plants near the tubs (going hydro) or should it be on the base of the stalks? near the middle? Should they be getting constant air? Should I make it in the back of the box so it's it's hitting the center and dispersing?

As for the exhaust should I place it by the lights? ABOVE the box? as heat rises?

not worried about heat mostly smell.

i use a grow box but if you using a big fan that rotates put it like in the general area not right on the plants that would hurt them. hope that helps.

... Just clarify - how big is this box?

Usually in a small set up ... 2 fans ... one pumping air in at floor level .. the other at roof / light level ... to suck the hot air out

Fan type depends on size of room?,type of light/power? etc ... please confirm

It also depends in your outside temp ... what is your average daytime temp? ... :bigjoint:

i live in the northeast I expect it to get pretty damn chilly.
My advice - run both fans during daylight hours
... once light goes off ... inlet fan can go off

Then just run the outlet fan every hour for 10-15mins ... during dark cycle

If you insist on building it yourself, which I might be doing, I suggest having the exhaust up top of grow and intake for fresh air on bottom some where... As cold air is normally at bottom with hot air up top. You can also get a cpu fan and wire it to a 12v adapater and use that to get the air circulating this helps with temps and more sturdy plants.

Yea, and there is a really good diy on a kick ass homemade carbon filter.

You can use that to help for smell. I suggest getting another small box on top and attach filter to that that way the fan is pushing air throught the filter. But yea I heard of a muffin fan too suppose to put out alot of cfm, but some cpu fans put out extreme cfm...

Also on the top side, its all about the space and what your working with. I had to sketch my plans up on pad to see what size i needed considering lights, space, container, all that good stuff. I am using mix 42 and 23 w soft white for flowering.
