Cooling 600W HPS

Is 320 CFM of free flow air enough to aircool a 600W HPS digital inside an aircooled glass enclosed hood?

I will have two 120 CFM fans on either side of the ducting/light one pushing one pulling.

Is there some kind of chart for the CFM required for certain wattage?

having 2 x 120 CFM fans running in parallel does NOT make 320 CFM of free flow air. It makes 120 CFM of free flow air.

ps 120 x 2 = 240 anyway :)

well it makes 120cfm (you said you have a 120cfm fans on each side of the hood). Basically you're not increasing the speed of air, just trying to keep it continuous within the hood (120cfm) and being fed out of the exhaust fan. Basically your using 1 fan as a booster fan. if it is not a cool tube, you're going to have some resistance and it will drop the cfm. if you have added ducting, it drops even more. Plus bends,etc... in the ducting.

I would say, go with one fan to exhaust the hood. most likely 300+cfm due to resistance within the hood and venting it out at a reasonable distance (also causes resistance). This will help in removing the majority of the hot pockets of air that can buildup in some hoods. Cool tubs don't have these pockets. you'll be able to get the grow room temps (not radiant) down to about the temp (2 - 8) of the air coming in to the grow room.

make sure your using a inline centrifugal fan (canfan, eclipse, elicent, etc..).

the fan is pushing 120 cfm ... down the track the next fan is still pushing 120 cfm. if you had a third further down the line it would still be pushing 120 cfm
now if you had 2 fans both coming out of the hood with different ducts the would both be pushing 20 cfm each, making 240 cfm

i use one of those 8 inch honeywells fans you get from wallmart 3 power turbo fans..for like 20 bucks with a 8 into 6 reducer and it cools 2 600s fine...cool enough where i can put my fingers on the glass and hold it.. if you afix the fan which i have seen directly onto the hood then have another pulling im sure thats fine..if not just swap the fan out..i love lowes...90 day return policy
