question for expert growers

hi im doing my first grow i was just wondering how long to veg for should i let them veg for 4-5 weeks and flower for 7-8weeks, or do i wait till the plants are a certain height before changing the lights if so how high???? thanks guys

There's so many different ways of doing it - there's really no set time for veg. How big is your grow space, how many plants, and what kind of light(s) are you using?

You don't have to be an expert to answer these questions lol.
I flower when the plant is at about 12"-14" so like 7-11 weeks.
Then the flowering time really depends on the strain

damn at 7-11 weeks i would think any plant would be way taller...my plants are about 12" right now and i'm on day 27

thanks for the replies guys, the grow room is massive its a double garage and im growing 15 plants with 600w hps lights and useing cocco cana 2 part feed and im gonna use a cocco cana bloom in the last 3 week of flowering hope this helps thanks again

Are you growing from clones? Or seeds? Or feminized seeds?

If the first or third, you should probably veg for three to four weeks before flipping the switch.

If "regular seeds", wait another week or two, as you're going to be tossing some males.

OP - what strain are you growing? that will play a huge role in how long you should veg...i am growing ak48 and that shit is growing crazy fast under FL lights...im waiting until like 8 weeks at least before i go 12/12

hey man. you do it however the fuck you want! after all its your grow!

grow a mom from the clone and root clones and veg them 1 wk then flower take new cuttings every other week stick new cuttings in flower every other week and get hella plants that are 1 oz. each!

pick yer strongest looking girl and then keep her on a veg light pattern.

thanks for that mate, carnt believe i didnt think of mothering 1, will it still work if im using 2 part cocco cana nutes, you mix them together and use right through the grow i dont use diffeent nutes to flower, thanks

Yeah totally misspoke lol
you know Stoned and all It does depend on what strain.
I grow blue widow alot and that takes about 7 weeks to reach 14"

oh yeah, those nutrients will work just fine.

you should technically wait untill you see preflowers this signifies that the plant is reaching vegetive maturity and ready to go into flower. the same principle applies to clones they maintain the age of the mother plant, so if you want to flower a clone strait away wait untill you see preflowers. (lots of people dont wait this long though.

another thing to remember is a plant is goin to double to tripple in size during flower so keep that in mind.
