Rubbermaid grow tent?

No - read the reviews.

If it can't hold up a couple of jackets, how's it gonna hold up a light, fans, filters, etc.?

I wouldn't skimp on a tent, that could be a lethal bargain.

I decided to make a grow tent with pvc pipes. Do you think that i would be good to put Mylar around the entire thing, then put a tarp around that?

For ventilation i was going to have a 4" inline fan at the top blowing into a homemade carbon filter, then also have a 4" inline fan pulling air in at the bottom.

Any suggestions?

beezkneez get panda plastic, its 90% reflective on the inside and black on the outside so you dont have to do two layers. There are also cheaper alternatives sold on hyrdo sites that are basically the same thing.

if you look online there are sites that sell PVC fittings just for making tents and things like that, and they are also fairly cheep.

Yeah, you need at least a 6" fan for exhaust to create the negative air pressure in the tent which will make your filter worth a damn.

You're gonna have so much positive pressure that you might as well not even have a filter with that setup.

Also, you generally want your inline to be pulling, not pushing through the carbon filter.

Thanks for the information! So heres what im going to do:

I have 3/4" PVC Pipes (do you think those are big enough) to make a 4 ft x 4ft x 8ft grow tent with panda film all around it and a zipper in the front.

For the carbon filter, i think i understand what you meant, how does this look?

i have heard its not good to grow using pvc if ur going to grow with hps/..... but thats just what i heard/././

Yeah, that should work fine, although you might wanna consider also air-cooling that light with a 6" inline.

You can find deal on a real grow tent. I find that when I am done building anything, it would have been cheaper to buy a new one.

Your ventilation setup looks great. :)

Don't forget you'll need a fan for circulating the air within the tent as well.

Are you guys talking about booster fans? I find there not worth a damn. I spent enough on inline fans to buy a cheap 4" centrifugal fan ($160 CND) and a Mountain Air Filter ($160) No smells LOTS of ventilation and that's 6'X6'X7' room too. I would ONLY recommend Mountain Air Filters! I had no luck with CanFilters.

Agreed MassW. I find my tent is great for the $65-$80 it coast me to build but If I could I would have spent the $$$ on a proper tent that doesnt leak light. My tent will suffice for a few grows but after that its pooched. :-) Where as I could have spent the cash on a proper tent, etc.
