my $15 box

alright. this is my first setup.

being low on cash. i decided to go as cheap as possibly with the best possible results.

setup

plywood- $8 at home depot, even had them cut it for me

tracklighting and lamps -free (leftover from finishing parents basement)

Brinks home security light timer- $5 at walmart

Radioshack electric fan- free (leftover from other project)

Thermometer- $2 at wal-mart

CFLs- free (had many layin around)

like i said this is my first setup and im still pretty new to all this. i like using the tracklighting because i can easily move the bulbs up and down or side to side as the plant matures.

only problem i seem to be having is the heat buildup. let it run for couple hours and the temp reached almost 100 degrees!. going to try turning the fan around to exhaust the hot air other thanbringing cool air in.

or maybe adding another fan but quiteness is also something im trying to keep.

im open for criticism and advise. i wanna learn as i do this!

While it is impressive you managed to do this on such a small budget I have at least two suggestions that will help you greatly.

For the love of ganja please mylar that box. All of it. The whole thing. If mylar isn't readily available you can use emergency blankets.

Also ensuring you have the proper bulbs will increase your yield/potency greatly, especially when combined with mylar. You should be using a mix of 27k and 65k lights (leaning more heavily (in a 2:1 ratio) towards 65k light for vegging and the opposite for flowering).

Edit: Support my efforts for a stealth grow subforum

with this grow im looking to keep the plants small. prolly will do 24/0 cycle for 2 weeks then straight to 12/12

i know i will get smaller yeild. but that is alright with me as im more of a night only smoker.

with my last grow that turned to males, my plants were tall with thin stems..was that my lights or just the nature of male plants???
