How does this look? (ghetto rig, no cool toys, sorry)

So... I needed to get out of the Dixie cups and move into bigger pots.. I chose 2 gal pots... and I of course had to change my setup to accommodate the size difference

Its still not complete all the way, Im using light clamps, and there are 2 different sizes, I bought both sizes just to see which one I would prefer... Im going with the big one, and go with 2 bulbs(y adapter in each reflector ) in each per plant (26w CFL)

good enough?

BEFORE

AFTER

Btw.. that piece of wood was an OLD brace for my canoe... lol

if you guys have better suggestions, Im all ears... I really suck at this hands on stuff

Thanks

Looking good. Off to a good start man. Hard to see the plants, but from what I can see they look healthy.

I will get an HID by the time I flower... hopefully if they are females.

this is my very first grow... and didnt know how to start exactly... I jumped into the hobbie with little research and now everyday I learn something new, and build my setup little by little. I cant exactly tell my plants to pause and wait till I figure out the master plan

oh those pics of the plants are when they were 3 days old... they are now 3 weeks old... looking pretty good... but starting to get a little rootbound I think.

Here ya go sir... Just took these a minute ago.. .

they have a some nute burn because I started seeds out in FFOF... apparently its too nutrient rich for seedlings.

Looks like they're recovering fine. They are going to need to be repotted soon.

Yup , thats the plan

I have a new bag of FFOF and a bag of Miracle grow Perlite...

gotta figure out the math so I can mix it properly 70/30 FFOF/MG perlite

iv never mixed soil before... this will be interesting.

What is FFOF? And by the way, adding the reflectors was the best thing you could do for using CFLs. I have those same reflectors and they work pretty damn good man. All the best to your growing endeavors, my friend!

lol.. Im hardly the Mcguyver...

I had to resort to that ghetto thing because I have no idea on how to use powertools, or be crafty with a bunch of wood.

otherwise I would of built something real nice...

but thanks anyways..

and for everyone else with the kind words, Thank you ... good luck to you guys as well.

looks good man.... I always went higher with the perlite.
plants like air.... I did a 40/60 to 50/50 combo - and it helps with the drainage. Youll have to water a little more but Id rather be bothered by watering more than OVER watering. CFLS will do ok for now but they loose a lot of intensity as you move from the lamp. definetly save up for a hps or, if you plan to go decently large... a mh and a hps. Mh for veg and hps for flowering. As the plant gets taller they will start to loose light on the bottom leaves because CFLS cant produce enough light to penetrate.

Hit me up if you ever want to do a aero system. I can give you DIY instructions directly or you can search on here.

Go getto bro.... its more fun that way!!!
Cheers

Oh! when you do start to flower with your future hps, your going to want to have a box, either that or dont go in your closet during the dark cycle. As long as no light hits your babies during the dark cycle.

I was hoping to have a real setup by then.. .

at the least.. HID + my closet and managing to never opening the door

at the most... a full blown light proof tent... probably 2x4

right now im more worried about ventilation when the HID comes through...

all I have is a fan pointed at the plants... no real form of exhaust... when the door is closed , temps go up as 85 with CFL... when the door is open, it goes to 80

oh really?... ill give the 40/60 some thought... its just the majority of the search results gave 30/70

I definitely hear ya on the CFL light penetration concerns... if I Dont get the MH... wouldn't clamping extra CFL that point on the side of the plant be good enough?

thanks for the tips

I wont be doing aero for a WHILE
