Cooling A Cool Tube

So im setting up a 400w hps with cool tube and needed some advice as far as keeping it cool.

So first of all do i need an intake and exhaust fan? I read that its best to just have an intake fan because pushing the hot air through the tube and out the exhaust can burn up the motor on the fan, but it seems to me it would be more effecient to have both.

Also if i do need to get an intake and exhaust for it can i just get 2 of these boosters and use one for the intake and one for the exhaust?

I also run a 400w HPS.
I have one 4" 80CFM duct fan pulling air through about 4' of 4" dryer duct.
The cool tube stays cool to the touch.

If just one cool tube is in place, One fan will do fine I suggest a 235cfm Inline fan with a carbon filter on the other side of the cool tube. But when two or more cool tubes are in a line a couple of fans is a must to keep up inline pressure. and as long as the the intake is equal to the outtake pressure your motor should be fine. I use a sealed 600w sunmaster hood with one 235cfm inline and one 235 squirl cage fan. My topps can touch the glass with no problems.

I recently realized ambient room temperature has alot to do with how well your lamp is being cooled when using a cooltube. If your ambient room temp is over 80 It doesn't work as well as if it were say 75. I have 171 cfm inline jet fan pulling through carbon filter into my cool tube out 4' of 4" ducting out of tent then out of closet. I keep my light about 12 " away so i can keep the temp under 79. I live wheres its hot all the time so temp is an issue.
Good luck

Right, thats why if you want consistent good yields and potency. Purchasing a swamp cooler is a must.

The Cab is going to be 5ft tall, 21 inches deep, 33 inches wide.
I'm using a 6"cooltube with a Suncourt 6" inductor fan that apparently will pull 200/300 cfm with a HPS 400w light, in a walmart cab that gives me 53"x46"x23" of usable bloom space.. I wouldn't say the glass of the tube is cool to the touch but it's not extremely hot, at all. The cool tube is connected with white vinyl dryer ducting on either side, and I am blowing cooler air with a fan outside of my cab to the space in behind, which I think has made a diff. I have 3 4" vent holes in the lower left side of the back of my cab, and in the upper right side I have a $19.99 can. home depot bathroom exhaust (50cfm). I also have a medium sized fan hanging on the left side as well as a small 4"desk fan blowing fresh air from the exhaust side. My temp has averaged 75-85, depending on how warm the room is.
My plants were a little too far away so I just raised them to 13" away from the tube today, hopefully that'll give me some more height as I noticed they dont seem to be growing much taller.

The ducting and inline fan I have aren't ideal from what I've read, but they'll do for now. Good luck!

I'm running a 80cfm fan on mine. It's not enough for warmer temps. I ran a 265 cfm fan most of the summer and it worked good in the heat. my room was/is 4x6
