Cloning

alright, so ive been looking for a in the forum for a while now but i cant seem to find the answer to my question. Is possible, or at least not a bad idea, to take a clone from a rooted clone? meaning, if i grow a plant from seed, and take a clone could i then flower the mother and make the clone a new mother? then hopefully repeat the process, so, take the first clone and flower it after taking a new clone from it... thanks in advance for the help.

It is what I do now for a year from a re-vegged headband clone. I take a few off each before I put to flower.

The disadvantage is for many strains they get harder to root after many generations. I am seeing this now. 2 weeks instead of 1.

You can clone a clone 20x before the plants genetics start drastically weakening.
Where did you find that information? Do you have link? I dont think they ever lose potency.

From what I understand, a clone is a clone. Plain and simple. It will never lose potency.

Thats the fabulous thing about cloning.

Did ol' #7 tell you this? I imagine this is an approximation as genetic mutation can occur/or not for lots of reasons at lots of times and nature/nurture may add so much variability that I just question the statement....Grizzly Adams is one of my heroes and I love my beard too!

Thats my understanding as well. Although I havent done anywhere near 20 generations of clones. It doesn't make sense to me that they would loose potency when the genes that regulate same are still identical......i'm stoned. Did that make any sense at all?:peace:

It made sense to me, but Im stoned too so we must be on the same level haha :joint:

Ive never cloned that many times either, so I dont have first hand experience. Thats why I asked for a link. Maybe its true, maybe it isnt. Im just currious is all
