Regarding the statement that no bombs have been set off in space. You might want to check out the latest episode of The Universe where they talk about the almost 2 dozen nuclear weapons tested in space before the US and Russia agreed not to. Why? Because the EMF damage potential was extreme. Even the small nukes of the time took out electronics all over the Pacific islands.
And Japan crashed the Selene satellite into the moon back on June 22nd. It too was a real world ender. It wasn't a two stager though, so it was only half an apocalypse.
