holy shit man looking GREAT. wish my plant looked that good
thanks wut- your plant doesn't look as good as mine, it actually looks better :weed:

moved the 4 sidelight cfls much higher up on the plant.. wanna get some more light on those nice buds forming in the middle of the top.

i think i'm gonna water tonight, because the pots got dried out a little faster this time; as the buds are growing, so are their appetites. i'll make sure they are well flooded this time. this is a day earlier than normal.

trichomes are definitely more prominent on bertha today- they're popping out everywhere now... it's gonna start looking sick in another week, i bet. :joint:

ended up watering and feeding the usual 1/2 gal each (& 1/4 cup big bloom each) this morning.

fiddled around with my camera, trying to get some better closeup shots, check it out!

clipped a tiny bud leaf to take a peek at it under my rs microscope... had a little fun with photoshop along the way lol

snapped this pic through the scope- you can see how the trichomes are forming on the leaf! i'll keep trying to make these closeups clearer...

and another one...

here are some bud shots for ya...

closer...

closest...

here's one more bud shot at three different levels of magnification:

one

two

three... notice how you can see the ends of some of the while hairs starting to turn brown...

hope someone's out there enjoying the pics... i'm having fun taking them, but i wish i could be smoking this bud right now and not just looking at it lol

that's cool- thanks man! i'm gonna try and get some pics up tomorrow... it'll be day 33 of flower then, and when i poked my head in the room today, the buds were definitely looking significantly beefier. i may even water again tomorrow, though it only will have been three days since the last watering, and if i do, i may just give them a very small dose of ff gb... either that, or i'll just wait an extra day, and then water each plant good with the usual 1/2 gallon of h2o mixed with the regular dose of 1/4 cup of ff gb for each...
turned the ac down a little today, temp is now holding around 75-76, and the humidity is like 60-65%, which is bugging me. i think i'm gonna put a dehumidifier in there... want those plants to start crankin out some resin, do you think that would help?

I water my plant very well and 2-3 days later the pot is extremely light. she really sucks up the water. so sounds normal. i thought it would be around every 5 days to water but shes really thirsty

yeah, mine have definitely changed their water needs... i watered and fed them today, which is a couple days sooner than normal, but it seems like they are really sucking up the water now! i watered them each an extra 1/4 gallon. they aren't growing very much taller so far, and seem to be really thickening up the buds... i figure i have like 3-4 more weeks left, but we'll see... gonna take a look at the trichomes again sometime this week. bought an ionizer at goodwill today, and started cleaning up my old dehumidifier- gonna try to get both of those things up and running tomorrow, running out of time today... so here are today's pics!!!

not as many trichomes showing on minnie... maybe she was too much of a runt. i'm hoping that once i get the humidity down (which has been hovering around 60-70%), i'm hoping it'll help them start to produce more resin- any thoughts about that out there?:joint:

wow man, you really have two beautiful girls there. This thread has given me a new outlook on what to do with my plant. I hope she'll end up as beautiful as even minnie, bertha status might be too much to ask from my meager operation.

I appreciate the pictures, and the picture taking info you posted. it really helps me get a sense of how my plant should progress and I hop to update my thread with at least as many good pics as you have.

Keep up the good work. Can't wait to see your buds just before harvest.

hey, thanks for all of the nice comments everyone. it's nice to know you're lurking about out there lol

i invested a couple of hours of labor to rehabilitate my moldy, old dehumidifier tonight... it took some time just to sterilize it, but most of the work was just trying to rig a hose to it that would drain directly into the sump, and then there was the task of emptying the entire grow room, plants included, so i could set the dehumidifier in place, nestled into the stairs... pain in the :cuss:

glad that's done. i set the dial to about 7 (out of 10), and it'll be running all night (it's not on a timer- can't have those buds gettin moldy due to damp air!), so i'm anxious to see what humidity level it will drop to by tomorrow. i am a little worried about extra heat, but then again, i noticed the temp was hanging around 75 deg f today, whixh is a little chillier than i want, so we'll see if it balances out when everything is up and running tomorrow. sure hope the circuit breaker doesn't trip when i'm at work- can't fuck this up now!!
hopefully i'll get the humidity down to 30-50%, maximizing resin production and lowering the risk of mold... i'll post some new pics in a couple days...

***today's update***

humidity dropped (about 25%!) to 43%, that should be just about right.
temp has risen (about 10 deg f) to 84 deg f, which probably makes the plants a little happier, more conducive for growth and for using the co2.

nice, do you know how much those dehumidifiers run? I know I'm going to be needing one, but haven't been able to look around all that much at local stores. (can't purchase anything online for the time being, though I know that's where I will get the best price).

Any updated pics yet? and do you plan on taking pics of the harvest?

I love seeing sticky ass buds, even if I won't be seeing any from my plant for a while. :-/

Anywya, really love the whole thread u host.

day 76 (flowering 36)

hey everyone, thanks for checkin in- yes, i will definitely be maintaining the journal during harvest, afterall, part of the thing we're all curious about is, how much will it yield, and good will the smoke be- it's just bagseed... we'll see! :weed:

just a quick update here, gotta run, but i'll upload a couple pics... added a duct system from my ac unit to my fan, thinking it would cool the air better... mmm... not so much lol... but more on that later when i have more than a minute of free time... temp 86 deg f, humidity 39%

now- pics pics pics!

side shot- getting fatter!

bertha top-

closeup- might be a different bud- doing this kinda fast lol

condensation on my duct work... ugh... it's sealed well, but doesn't seem to work like i thought it would... got the thing on max ac!

here's where the vent comes out, right over the fan- i did have it behind the fan, thinking it would just suck the air out, but it didn't work as well as having it over the fan... probably just gonna disassemble this contraption...

that's all for now peeps- holla lol

how many more days until harvest?? 25 - 30? looks real slick :D
thanks gi! i'm not sure about the harvest... i have no idea what the variety of mj either of these plants is, but i'm pretty sure minnie will need to blossom a little longer than bertha... i'm at 5 & 1/2 weeks now, so i figured at least another 2 weeks for bertha, and maybe another week after that for minnie. then again, bertha is fattening up so much that i think i'll have to give her some support. structurally, these plants seem very different- check out some of these pics and compare.

here's minnie's top

and minnie's middle buds

these last two i want you to compare them carefully... notice how differently the branches/leaves are oriented.
