I'll phrase it different. If you cracked a valve in closed room not air tight. and went to sleep you would not wake up. co2 is one of the most dangerous
gasses out. I've seen guys go down outside in open air with only 20 cylinders draining. the shit hangs and displaces o2 if you get a couple good shots in your lungs it removes all the o2. I worked at a gas plant for 13 years I've been trained and trained employee's on how to handle and fill the following gases o2,n2,he,ar,co2.nh3,c2h2,propane and anhydrous ammonia. just a little back ground. use it if you like. Just hope nothing goes wrong. I hate reading about a kid that got caught in dads grow room and died. oh one more thing if you look at a co2 valve it has a burst disk on the back side. those get weak and pop off all the time. When that happens all the co2 dumps at one time. you just went from 1200ppms to enough co2 take all the o2 out of a 12x12 room

IF you were to grow indoors than you would realize a lot of things...but you dont, so you wont.

you can grow a couple of plants with cfl but i would never even bother...

trying to grow a serious large scale crop with led or cfl's is not going to happen, unless you are just interested in fluffy mid grade personal smoke...this isnt the 1960's anymore.

if you were growing 100 plants than you would need like at least 500 cfl bulbs, which is just retarded !... and guess what?? It would still get hotter than shit! CFL put off heat too when you have 500 of them.

i'm not trying to dis anyone using cfl's but i think everyone knows that they arent they ideal set up.

Are you effen kidding??? 5 CFL's to grow ONE plant? You're right, this isn't the 60's, & 5 200 watt cfl's would truly grow one HELL of a plant. And just because I said I don't grow indoors, doesn't mean I don't know how. So as I said, good luck with your cooling problems.

no winning co2 just scares the hell out of me in a home. when I was cook a long time ago we would toss or slide 20# co2 cylinders across the storage room. we were very stupid and very lucky not to get killed. That's why I said it is a dangerous gas people don't think about the fact that there is 20# of cryogenic liquid inside a 60cf cylinder just wanting to turn to gas. co2 cylinders are the most over filled and abused cylinder on the market. most high pressure cylinders have a burst disk the over filling makes them weak. most co2 cylinders are 1800 psi so the burst disk is 5/3 of that so 1800 has a disk that pops at 3000 psi. I guess I miss my old job I don't get to ramble on about it much any more.

NO jberry, I certainly do not "know more than anyone growing with both types of light". But I do Know that You are WAY off the mark when you claim that it would take 5 cfl's per plant! ( of course you may be referring to some 20 watt bulb that is equal to a 75 watt incandescent, and yes, that would be pretty lame!). The 150 & 200 watt cfl's are being used very sucessfuly & productively by many growers today. I know 2 of them, and their grow was not some kind of joke.
BTW, I do not "pretend" to care. I ALWAYS finish my post's with, "Good luck & good grow".......BB

aye 5hit...i jus read the first page and this is my experience..i run two 1k fresca sols in my room..i got a 600 not air cooled that i put in there to see the difference...the difference is that my temp gun reads 120 degrees anywhere on the 1k and over 450 degrees on the regular light...both lumatek ballasts.. aldo very important is that the price for me really isnt different..i wanted a ocho 8 reflector and if you get a fresca sol from sunlight they charge less than $100 for the reflector (generic version)...so the cost is about even bc that hood alone cost almost $300...also fans costs $200-300 EACH....i got three 55 gallon food grade drums and no cooling...i can keep my lights almost directly on the plants (helps greatly with PAR) and my A/C rarely kicks on.. ths cost of the drums is $50 each...my pump to run the water thru the lights was abiut $100....plumbing and time are almost free...maybe $50 for all the plumbing with relief valves and such..
