alaska fish fert.

hey guys, im usin omri listed alaska fish fertilizer for my plants. or at least ide like to, i have a bottle of it sitting here but my question was, can it expire? i got it from a friend who bought it a year or 2 ago. also, the plants i want to use it on have been alil over fert. in nitrogen due to the soil my friend used... i now have his crop and tryin to make the most of it. the tips of the leaves are curled under, but as far as yellowing and things go i got it under control. it actually seems quite healthy other then the leaves... its prolly about 3 weeks into flowering. any recommendations?

organic nitrogen is pretty stable - organic fertilizers as a group, are pretty stable. nitrogen content however will decrease if the container is open and with time. nitrogen volatizes into the atmosphere pretty easily. do you know what makes up most of the air you breath?

wow. im a fuckin idiot. i never shoulda added that shit to a flowering plant. it needs 0-20-10 if anything, not 5-1-1. i heard nitrogen can actually harm buds in the flowering process.... is this true?

to much nitrogen can hurt a plant any time but it is hard to do w/ organics
when flowering, plants dont need much nitrogen so what is in your soil is plenty.?I would not worry if you added some, just don't add any more

1st, Fish emulsion lasts a long time in the bottle, probably still pretty good...
2nd, High Nitrogen applications tell the plant to grow green parts & go veg. Use it for the veg stage. I use a little (nitrogen) during flowering to maintain healthy leaves but other wise you're right about using something low in nitrogen for flowering. 4-10-10, 0-5-5 etc, NOT FISH EMULSION... be sure to look to see if there are micro-nutrients in the mix as well. (fish emulsion isn't as complete a nutrient source as say some of the liquid organics out there.)
Sounds also like they need a flushing maybe after their little overdose...? Good Luck!:leaf:
