Powder Mold Help

High people! Got the powder mold and was trying to consolidate some of the strategies I read. First, anyone have experience with using hydrogen peroxide to wipe the mold from the leaves then use a backing soda spray to prevent it from recurring? I was thinking of doing that (and of course doing the "other" things regarding the environment to help prevent it from recurring) and was wondering what you guys (and gals) think.

Both are good strategies in combating this dreaded problem. Great organic solution to the problem, I have used this method in all of my gardening for many many years.

Thanks,a few quick follow-ups. Can these two strategies be used "together"...and if so when is the best time to do each. I'm assuming it's best to rid the leaves of mold by using hydrogen peroxide as soon as possible. But when is the best time to spray with the baking soda (only during day/lighted time?) Or day and night? (Obviously have to watch out for letting light in though). Perhaps it should be right before dark to prevent mold from taking effect overnight? Should the backing soda spray be 24/7? Conversely, is there a "bad" time to do the backing soda spray?

Also, there are only 2-3 weeks left so is the spray okay to spray on the buds?...or is it best to just spray the fan leaves and hope it doesn't spread to the buds?

Again, thanks for the help.

I normally spray the first thing in the morning. My reasoning for this is solely knowing that it has time to dry properly during the day. I am afraid of late afternoon not knowing if they have dried properly or not thereby causing more harm to the plant. I have not used the baking soda as a preventative before, but I do use it on my roses and I believe it helps.
Your next point is going to have two sides to the story for sure. One side never spray your buds. Solid advice by and large. Outdoor growers deal with rain at all times of the day and night, I fail to see how this differs from spraying your plant to prevent it from being a total loss. The second side says spray in the mornings on days you know they will dry out properly.
I hope this helps in your decision making. I wish you the best of luck.:joint:

When you say you "spray"...you mean you are using a solution of Hydrogen peroxide and water? If so what is the concentration? Also, does the Hydrogen peroxide affect the taste of the buds and/or should using it be stopped at some point (say right before harvest)

Finally, ANYONE have experiences to offer with the baking soda and water solution?

Sorry I was not at my best writing the previous post, I was trying to finish before the bus came to take me to town. I use a solution of half peroxide and half plain water. Hydrogen Peroxide breaks down within hours of being applied and leaves no taste or ill affects to the plant what so ever.
The baking soda solution I use on the roses is 2 tsp per quart of water in a mister bottle. Sorry once again I was not complete before. Any other questions please feel free to PM. Good Luck

for floral spray and controlling powdery mold i found to use 1 oz of neem oil and 1 oz of safer soap. mix well with 1gallon of water and spray untill plant is dripping wet. cover all of your plant, powdery mold will be gone and wont come back until u have new growth. u must have some mold outside around your garden or house , with high humidity the mold spoors will travel into your garden.

Thanks canefan you're doing fine. The only follow-up would be is the spray ok to use up to harvest time or should it be stopped. I'm presuming that if there is no problems with affecting the taste of the bud then it is okay to use it up to harvest?

Fishenfool: thanks for your suggestion. A few follow ups for you if I could. First, I've heard that you shouldn't use neem oil close to harvest time (which mine is). Also, is yours effective at that concentration? Are you mixing it from a "raw" neem oil stock or do you just take some of the "off the shelf" premixed spray bottle and mix up your own concoction with the safer soap (PS what is "safer" soap?)

Are there any other strategies or cautions regarding neem oil? I've never used neem oil before so if anyone has input regarding that please chime in.

Thank you everyone for your input.

Serenade! I've used sulphur burners, tried fungicides, and pH up sprays, but nothing worked better than Serenade.

Are there any cautions and/or strategies with using serenade? (mostly affecting taste of bud or being able to use it a few weeks from harvest?)

neem oil is from raw neem oil , i buy it in pints and lasts forever. safer soap is is an organic insecticide. it works grate for spider mites, nats, flys and controls powdery mold by it self. i get that at my local hardware store.

i have sprayed my plants as much as 2 weeks before harvest but i dont soak the buds. if there is a lot of mold you probaly dont want to smoke it. mold spoors are very bad the last thing you want is put them inside your lungs.

i have about 2 oz of moldy purple kush buds, cant smoke them , im going to try to harvest the trycomes off them and see how it smokes. good luck and be cautious.

I would stop spraying a couple of days before harvest. By rights you should be able to spray within the day but your poblem should be well resolved within a week. Good Luck
