really?? I have a 200 watt over my mothers right now. I was wondering if theres anything non balasted that is higher???

you use a 200w metal halide with no ballast? or you have 200w total mh lighting without a ballast? i gotta see this.

A zero watt metal halide works without a ballast. The one at ma's house that's a security light has a ballast in the base of the light fixture.

yes. it is a 200 watt MH that has a internal balast built in. no 2 chords/mounting balast crap. Its great for tight rooms.

Never heard of a non ballasted MH or HPS.

All gas-discharge lights require a ballast.
Almost all wattages of gas-discharge lights can be obtained with fixtures including the ballast.
As far as I know an 18000 watt MH bulb is the largest you can get right now.
Though the largest fixture with a built-in ballast I can find is 1500 watts.

Built in ballast 1000 watts cost more then a 1000 watt bulb and digital balast....

You can get uvb metal halides with balast in bulb. All vapour lights can have the ballast in bulb look at some of the mercury vapours
