Republicans boo lady in wheelchair at town hall meeting

There should not be "Sides" we should all act as a cohesive unit to bring about change. When politicians are in front of the Cameras they completely pander and lie to the citizens and pretend that partisan politics is the only way to make it work. Behind the scenes the dems are having supper with the repubs and they are all great friends who know its all just an act in front of the camera, they are cut from the same cloth.Besides the politicians don't run the country, they only act as the middle man, the big "Money Trust" are the ones who run the country.

FWIW I am not a republican, but I will defend anyone who is inaccurately labeled. You do not know with any accuracy what the political affiliation is for any single person in that town hall, the gal in the wheelchair could very well be a republican and being berated by democrats, you can't prove otherwise.

I completely agree with you on all your points in this post.

Political parties in *actual* politics are a farce. It's all part of the show.

There was a South Park rerun on last night... the one where Cartman goes back in time to 1776 to see what the founding fathers would have thought about the war in Iraq.

He comes back and tells everyone that the founding fathers realized we needed people who were FOR the war, and people who were against the war, so that other countries wouldn't think we were all a bunch of warmongers. We can go to war, and at the same time we can PROTEST going to war.

I know it's just a cartoon, but the moral of the story rings kind of true, doesn't it?

Like I said, the sherriff needs to put the boot to the assholes who keep these meetings from being orderly. Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Nazis, who gives a shit. Sit down, shut the fuck up and wait your turn.
These meetings aren't for bickering. They're supposed to be to let our politicians know what their constituents want and put THEIR worthless asses on the spot.

Did anyone else hear her say her medication costs her almost $400 every 2 weeks?

She wasn't griping about property taxes, she was trying to make a point about prescription drug costs. She's afraid she'll lose her home because she has to pay so much money for her medications that she won't be able to pay the tax on her home and they'll TAKE IT from her.

Was she trying to drum up sympathy? OF COURSE she was!

How callous do you have to be NOT to feel sympathy for her, let alone heckle her while she's trying to speak?
Most likely 90% of the people yelling had no idea she was in a wheelchair, sounds like the majority are near the back of the room where they probably cannot see her. Personally I don't care if your in a wheelchair or not, you get no preferential treatment for me because of your physical status. The gal obviously has a functional brain and therefore can be a productive member of society just like anyone else. Sure she might have to put more effort into it, but effort is its own reward in the end when you have accomplished your goals. People should never just give up on life and assume others will take care of them.

There is always a bit of truth to things said in jest.

Regardless of whether she's in a wheelchair, $400 every 2 weeks for a necessary medication is simply TOO MUCH for anyone.

Who says she's given up? Obviously she hasn't, or she wouldn't have wheeled herself down to the town hall meeting.

Having respect for someone while they're speaking isn't "preferential" treatment, it's just common decency.

Have you ever seen someone try to "function" on high doses of narcotic painkillers? Not saying that it isn't possible, but it's certainly an obstacle.

She might have a "functioning" brain, but that doesn't mean she's able to work.

My father in law has MS, and some of the time he's fine - you wouldn't even know something's wrong with him. The rest of the time, he can't even go to the bathroom on his own. He certainly can't work, because he never knows when he's going to have an episode or end up needing hospitalization. Who's going to hire someone with a condition that might keep them from work for weeks at a time?

Just because she appears to be fine in this video, doesn't mean that's the whole story.

So in your mind paraplegics should just fend for themselves because after all they do have a functioning brain. What about your 90 year old grandmother that can barely move?

You gotta love the compassion from this crowd when this woman said she was afraid she would lose her home and they all cheered. This coming from the same group of people that claim to be christians. What a fucking joke this country has become.

msnbc ,,,,, now thats quality! i dont know i watched the clip and heard alot of people yelling "ask the question" so im guess this was just a small clip put out by msnbc to make their "point" that these town hall meetings are out of control. ya know the poor handicaped lady gets shouted down. just another example of poor media bias. I have been to these meetings and the shouting is from both sides and they dont seem to be all that effetive.

SEIU is a labor union organization. Who says they were democrats? Just because they belong to a union, they're "lefties"?
Yes. They have become no different than ACORN, STORM, or any other Liberal dominated groups. Just as the same can be said about many Right Wing organizations.

What information have you gleaned from history that leads you to believe that Christians are beacons of compassion? The past actions by religious zealots among Christians make many of the recent atrocities committed by Muslims look like child play.

i think he was pointing out that the basis of christianity is supposed to be forgiveness and turning the other cheek, charity and especially compassion for everyone.

Unfortunately, you are correct. The worm has definitely turned at public meetings. While I find the way this woman was treated deplorable and completely unfair to her personally, MSNBC and all the progressives might as well put a cork in it if they are looking for sympathy.

How many conservative politicians, invited speakers and heads of organizations have been "shouted down" across the country for the last 8 years? It has happened countless times and with scant reporting by the MMM and certainly MSNBC. When it was reported, it was always done with thinly disguised contempt for the victim and ALWAYS portrayed as an example that shows the victim's ideas are out of touch.

The UNDENIABLE fact is, the Conservatives have taken a page out of the Progressives very successful playbook and are using it for their purposes now. You might as well suck it up, because they aren't going to stop doing it simply because the inventors of the tactic don't like the reversal. Personally, I don't care for it, never did, but I'm not blind to the hypocrisy of Liberals complaining about it now.

I wonder if your viewpoint may differ if that was you in that wheelchair? What if it was you that had to wear a bag for incontinence. I'll bet your tune would change. Saying that crippled people deserve no consideration is pretty lame.

The woman (being a federally protected class, e.g. gender, disabled, and she might even be over the age of 40 thats 3 different classes), has absolutly every single right to explain her situatuion. She does not try to endorse the sympathy factor of being disabled. Thus proclaiming to me, that she simply was stating the facts that she is unable to make the proper payments on her mortage and taxes. To simply disrupt ANYONE while they are speaking is extremly rude and immature, let alone an ADA american speaking from expierence and from her heart.

Heh I know a fella that has been a paraplegic his entire life. He is a lawyer and owner of a telecom company, a Computer business in 3 cities and helps lobby the state for minority rights. He is also an orphan. He hates that the world grants him special privileges and feels that he has more rights than anyone else just due to his situation which he never had any control over to begin with. He hates to be treated as a invalid with people letting him cut to the front of a line, or the looks of pity shown when they offer to open a door for him

He started with less than she probably did ( No supportive family) and she can move her arms too.

If you all feel so sorry for her, open up your check books and write her a $100 check every month for the rest of her life if it will make you feel any better.

that's a matter of opinion as both sides have different stories and the video shows nothing. not even the racial epithets they were supposedly saying. do you just up and believe he was attacked because he says he was? cause i heard the alleged attacker say that kenneth attacked a minister. is he lying or is the other man? you don't know.

not to mntion his lawyer is there? sounds like a setup to me.

Actually I feel sorry for people that feel a need to make up stories on message boards to support their position of hate.
