Thanks! Me either! Still no signs of sex yet.... not that I thought it'd show this early, but of course we inspect immediately anyway. The BH actually is showing the tiniest of pistils, but can barely be seen even with a magnifying glass. (That's the one from a feminized seed, so no surprise there.)

I still us GH, but now it's MaxiGro & MaxiBloom. Same as the FloraNova really, but it's powder instead of liquid; much easier to measure and a lot cheaper! Also a bonus for hydro is that it's clear instead of a thick dark sludge, so you can more easily watch for root/reservoir color problems.

Lighting is an 8 bulb T5 fixture; 4 each of 30K & 65K. 400 watts, 5,000 lumens per square foot.

'Bout damn time, eh?! Exhaust fan installation couldn't have come at a better time.... it's 114 freaking degrees!!! Today was forecast to be a record breaker, and I'm sure it is! It's 98F in my living room :o yet 82F in my tent.... not as low as I'd like, but that's as low as it's gonna go. This is with the cooler, window A/C (which is right next to the tent) and every fan in the house going full blast!

ANYHOOO, thought I'd post some "pre-stretch" photos. They've grown in height since the last post, as there's no more horizontal room. Still shorties though; I'm curious what their final height will be, although I certainly won't have to worry about vertical room with 5.5' allowance. I took a shot of the exhaust fan, to show why it took so long to get it installed (at the top right of the tent); it's too heavy to hang from the tent fabric, so my friend had to build a support, and he first had to find & borrow a jig saw; he's got tons of tools, but nothing like that.

Now.... hoping for females!!!
LOOKIN DAmn good kat!!!:) cant wait to start seein sum buds:weed:i got my fingers crossed for females for u! keep up the good work!!!!!

Thanks so much for the well wishes AK! But alas, my first male made its appearance this afternoon. Plant "D" (Northern Lights). They pollen sacs are so tiny right now that I can't even get a photo of them; my cheapie camera just doesn't like to take shots that close. I've had a feeling that this one would be a male; even remarked about it earlier this week in FDD's "seed production" tutorial thread. There haven't been pre-flowers by which to judge; it was simply intuition. The last day or two, I've also had a feeling that "A" and "B" are also males, but it's been a "faint" feeling rather than a "gut" one, so I'm trying to stay positive. :hump:

I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to continue growing it to harvest the pollen for my next round of NL's vegging now, or just remove it and make more room in the tent for the other three (assuming, of course, that all three are females) as well as to free up a pot for my WW which needs to be transplanted in the next week or so. I'd like to breed my NL's, but really don't know if I feel like doing it right now.... as much as I don't want to continue buying seeds, I'm really more interested in getting buds harvested this round than I am about growing seeds. I'll just wait and see how my mood is RE: this over the next few days or so. I almost just immediately chopped it, but it's been "one of those days" and I try not to make decisions when I'm moody. ;)

You know it's gonna be a crappy day when you're relieved to see the day's forecast says it's supposed to be down to 101F! :wall: Especially when the heat exacerbates chronic illness.

Well now you've gone and done it, AK.... you crossed your fingers, and today pistils appeared all over the place! ;) Three females out of four.... and I ain't gonna complain!

I haven't killed the NL yet. The forecasts claim that there should only be a couple more days in the 100s, then about a few days in the '90s, and then down to the '80s. So I'll put him in the back yard once he can tolerate the weather so I can collect me some NL pollen. And watch closely meanwhile, so that my current girls don't get preggers.... it's all about Planned Parenthood, ya know!

Six months of hard work are finally paying off! :hump: I'd be dancing around if my body allowed it.... but feel free to do some dancing for me.

Hey now. Hey now. No more sausage at this party plants, okay?!

No way to sway or convince them to all be female huh? Get a dvd player in there and put on The Notebook or something.

Maybe play some Streisand for them. In my 1st grow, I would play some Boys To Men for them in hopes that they would lean towards being chics. Out of 3 plants, I got 2 chics and 1 rather feminine male plant...and I started crying more often. ;-)

Anyways, keepin my fingers crossed on this end. Don't blame ya for not wanting to do the pollen run. Its a real pain in the ass cuz you gotta keep them alive for awhile and they just take up space and eat your nutes and watch football and stuff.

Men...can't live with em...perfectly acceptable to cut them into tiny pieces to make sure they never come back.

Guess pot and people aren't that similar afterall huh?

3 out of 4 is great kat.....b-careful putting the boy outside keep him away from your windows and a/c unit because male plants are sluts and they'll get them preggers thru the wall if u let them....my buddy had this happen thru his central a/c.....another dude i know ended up with all males bcause of a careless neighbor down the street...i would have had to hurt somebody...lol

p.s. 82 is as far down as im able to go in the summer...my plants dont really seem to mind it you'll b ok

:idea:Thats the truth..all it takes is a microscopic grain to touch a calyx and your plant is putting THC production time into making seeds.

Thanks for the good wishes and advice, everyone!

Butters, you crack me up! I'd thought about "Terms of Endearment" but I don't have that flick. And hey, I pretty much just take up space around here, and I love football!

I put the male in the back yard the other night, about 20 minutes or so after my last post in here. We're still in the middle of this nasty heat wave and other weird weather (tornado watches yesterday! lol), but I figured if he makes it then great, I should have tons of NL pollen from all those branches; if he doesn't, then oh well. My "main" cooler is on the roof, and the window A/C is at the side yard; both are toward the front of the house. The NL is near the back door for now, so that he gets the direct light and heat from mornings instead of afternoons when it's been unbearable. But it's supposed to be 10+ degrees cooler in a few days, and then he'll be moved to the very back of the yard, far from windows or coolers.... I know that males can pollenate from very far away, but I'm still watching him closely for any sign of maturing, even though it's only been four days since the first early signs of sex. At the first sign of maturity, all branches even close to opening will be chopped for whatever pollen can be cultivated at that time. His flowers are producing more slowly now too, which can most likely be contributed to increased heat (still well above 100F; higher than 90F is known to slow MJ growth) as well as increased light hours.

p.s. 82 is as far down as im able to go in the summer...my plants dont really seem to mind it you'll b ok
It's gotten up to 86F in there the last week, during the 1-2 peak hours. But compared to 98F in my living room a couple yards away, these girls have it made! However, many people grow outdoors in my area, and their plants flourish amazingly in the So. CA Mojave. Plus, the male is very happy outside. There's absolutely nothing more I can do about the heat, and they're being very forgiving and doing wonderfully. Just a few more days, and then it'll just be disgustingly hot, but not unbearably so.

They're dealing with this much better than I am.... we've literally been concerned about me having heat stroke this week! :o Now I've got a foot spa, which lives in front of my recliner and used the vast majority of the day. It's helped immensely to bring my body temperature back down to normal. I've also got ice packs all over me most of the afternoon.... quite a sight, really! Everyone slows down around here when the weather gets like this, but I get so sick that there's always a bit of worry about how I'll get through it. (Part of the reason MS is still a suspect; many illness' symptoms overlap, but MS is extremely unforgiving of heat. Dangerously so.) Honestly, we've been more concerned about me than the plants.... they could possibly slow their growth a bit, but they won't die with the temps they've got; I, on the other hand, could. Not to be melodramatic or anything, though.... most often I pretty much "downplay" how serious all of this is, because I don't want to whine all the time; I also don't like pity. And on that note, enough of that. This, too, shall pass! right? Right!

When I discovered the NL was a male, I was beginning to prune the plants. Not quite a "lollipop" job, but kinda close. There wasn't enough air circulation at the bottom (LST will do that), so it was time to snip. It broke my heart to see soil through the foliage again, but they still have all their bud sites, minus a few tiny ones at the bottom. And, according the the "lollipop enthusiasts" they'll now have more energy to focus on the larger bud sites.

Took a photo of the NL outdoors yesterday. It was 109F at the time, so you can see that the heat really isn't hurting them. True sunlight shows the shade of green these plants really are! :hump:

In the "veg" photo.... the pots in the back are the NL's that sprouted a month ago, the front are the WW seedling and a clone from the Blue Hash, and the cuttings are two each from "A" and "B" as well as a second cutting from the BH (a "just in case" the current one isn't as healthy as this one will be). I definitely want a BH mother, as I only had one seed and I've been hearing from other growers that they really love the BH.

I can almost get shots of the beginning of the buds, but not quite yet. Cheapie cameras suck! Soon though.... and I should only have to buy pot two more times (purchased once monthly), and then never again!

I'll be getting more pots this Sunday, and if my budget allows also come coco. Container growing has been best for this weather and this horribly insulated house, but I've read so much about coco and growth, so I'd like to use that instead of soil.

SHEESH.... I wasn't going to make a long post today!!! :wall:
