Vertical Space

Is this gonna be enough room to get through 70 days of flower with a high yeild strain? It's Super Silver Haze. I'm using a 400 watt HPS with the good hortilux bulb for more lumens. I have the light exhausted to outside with a 175 cfm oracle fan (like a can fan) and I can keep temps and humidity anywhere I want them pretty much cause I have a good AC unit too. I wasn't worried till I realized how big the girls have gotten in the last few days. I'm planning to turn off the light for the first 12 hours tonight. Should I do it or do I really have to top and wait again? And how low should I cut if I do?

Here's the breakdown:

From bottom to top the space measures 6 feet (72 inches).

The pots are 8 and 1/2 inches.

The light can't take up less than 13 inches without some real hassles and probably a few hours of lost light time.

The tallest plant measures just under 24 inches from the top of it's pot.

Can I make it work by using tiedowns and such? Most people say that they can double or triple in size. Is that true with a little 400 watt light too

That leaves 26 and 1/2 inches for them to flower out.

What'dya think?

I had even lower clearance, but a similar setup initially and found that with the strains I have (seeds from regular middle grade) they need about 120 cm or more for decent yield. Lighting is always a problem with low grows because of rapid growth and burning. If you prune the tops you can keep your plants under control, but it will inevitably reduce yield. Right now I have clones that I keep very short and bushy to solve this height issue. The key is to have more plants though to offset the lower yields. Oh, by the way you can get some strains that genetically are inhibited with regards to growth, such strains as dwarf, widow, and many indicas.

Thank you I'll try a short OG/widow strain or something next time, but for now...

120 cm from where to where? From the top of the pots to the bottom of the lights?
