Central Air Smell Question

I'm running central air in the room. My AC unit is on my roof and I've been noticing an odor outside my house and a little in the house. I have a massive carbon filter in the room. Will the AC unit start to smell like the room and if so does anyone have any suggestions on making this stop. I appreciate any answers with this SMELL IS NO GOOD. Thanx

well do you have a return air duct in the room? I would plug that up or the smell would spred around your house

they have airfresheners for central air systems... i used one of them for my getto carbon filter (obvioulsy along with a carbon filter) but they are like 3 bucks at homedepot.. maybe this will help and all you will smell is ocean mist, instead of dank... just an idea

I've put dryer sheets between the filter and grill on the air return, back when I still lived with the parentals. The house always smelled like clean laundry. Looking back on it, maybe that was give-away in itself. Oh well, alls well that ends in refer.

If I turn the air on my whole house smells. My buddy walked in yesterday and asked if I was smoking.

I've had the same problem. Hadn't smoked in the house in a while and couple of buddies were standing in front of my house saying, "Dam smells like your smoking some serious dank." I told them i smoked a joint a minute before they came by.

I took off my intake vent and dropped a open jar of ONA in it, and put the vent back.
Works great. I have a ferret and I tell people I am hiding her scent.

Unless its a package unit, the inside air shouldn't reach the unit on the roof. Typical units have an air handler inside the house that has the evap coil. Condenser coil and compressor is outside.
