Pants faling over.....

Hi. Im new to this. Very new. I planted 9 seed last week and all came up. They now stand about 4 inches tall starting to pop out the second set of leaves. Everything looks healthy but they are kind of starting to band at the stem and fall over but they are still pointing upwards at the light. Two of them have been doing it all along and now two more are getting goofy. Any help would be appreciated.

Use something to hold them up. Put a light breeze from a fan on them. You want them to flutter a little. That will thicken the stalk making them strong.

The thing is I have had a fan blowing on them all day and then they started falling. Looks like right where it comes out of the ground is reallly skinny. I have propped them up now with the fan on them to see how that works.

LOL
You could put some dirt around the stalk. You maybe able to add soil to your pot.

Seedling that do that are normally stretched which means a lack of adequate lighting. One thing that is good to do, besides giving your plants adequate lighting, is to leave a fan blowing on them at all times. In nature the wind causes trees and bushes and plants to sway back and forth and that motion is what causes the trunks/stems to thicken/grow thicker and wider. Without such movement plant stems will likely remain thin, or at least be thinner than they otherwise would be.

If it seems obvious that your stems are weak enough that a plant or most or all the plants may bend over completely you can gently dig them out of the soil. Being sure to take more then enough soil to get all of the young roots, and then replant them deeper. Place then deep enough so there is roughly one quarter of an inch between the top of the soil and the bottom leaves. The part of the stem that used to be above the soil will push out roots so your root system will expand/grow larger faster. If you do the replanting deeper thing be sure to make sure your plants receive adequate light and let a fan blow on them or else they will lonely repeat the same thing and grow taller with thinner stems.

I put more soil around the stalks. Ill see what happens before the day ends. While watering them I may have compacted the soil around the stalk exposing some of the root which was way thinnner under the soil. I stood them back up and have the osculating fan on them. Thanks for any help. Trying to make my first grow a sucess

you can also use straws cut up the middle so the straw opens, wrap around the stem do be careful, or get some plastic forks from your local take away food place or a shop, snap a bit off and put the handle side in the dirt and use the fork side to hold up the child, you only need to do this for about 3 days then they support themselvs. best of luck to you and welcome to the site..

I put some forks in the soil and added more. The good ones even seem to be floping over. Then they bend all wierd to get to the light. Im trying everything to save them. Do you think too much fan might have caused this??????

hey guys! im really new to this but as far as i can tell it's probably a mixture of both lighting and not enough of the stem "under ground" soil what ev but, like i said im very new to this so take it easy on me.
