milwaukee pH meter is pure garbage!!!

So i got this meter a few days ago.. and I immediately noticed that I had to add a LOT more pH down to my water to get it to read in the 6.0-7.0 range than I was when I was using the liquid test (i was adding one drop with the liquid test, with the meter i was having to add about 10 drops to a gallon. Well today I noticed my leaf tips curling down dramatically. I decided to test the runoff water with the liquid pH test. 4.0!! my runoff water is 4.0, bright fucking red!! the milwaukee said it was 6.1 I just heavily flushed my plants with water that I pHed using the liquid test kit (nice and greenish yellow) what can I do?! are they gonna recover? I will never use that piece of shit meter ever again. it said 7.1 on the calibration solution. But when I tested my tap water with it (which I know is over 8.0) it said it was only 7.4 so I shoulda assumed something was fishy. I hope that stupid thing didnt cause me to kill my plants. Bad part is, I had just watered em last night with the off pH water (the second time they got watered with the bad pH) and now totally I completely drenched the soil in higher pH water. I hope they pull through

did you calibrate it when you got it...... are you storeing it in storage solution or 4.0 calibration solution

Never had my ph go that low but i'm sure if you corrected the problem fast and flushed it all out that you will be fine, got my fingers crossed for ya too lol good luck

did you calibrate it when you got it...... are you storeing it in storage solution or 4.0 calibration solution

yea I calibrated it. with 7.1 solution, I even checked before watering with the solution to make sure it was still calibrated, and it was.. but apparently its only accurate with the solution.. I was told by the guy at my hydro shop I can just store it in tap water just to keep it wet (I didnt buy it from there) so thats what I did. But apparently the only accurate reading it gives is from calibration solution, otherwise it was WAY off I hope I flushed em properly, they were just watered last night with the bad pH.. and just DRENCHED the pots with higher pH water. Its gonna take em over a week to drink that much water. When I was flushing, I kept checking the runoff, bright red with the liquid kit which means between 4.0 and 5.0

Flush flush flush those plants with water that is properly PH balanced is what you should do right now before worrying about anything else...

I already did this.. I sure hope they dont get root rot, those pots are DRENCHED with properly pHed water (well its certainly higher pH.. its hard to tell with the liquid kit) The pots probably wont dry out for over a week under my 250w MH. I dont know the exact pH of the water I flushed with because I dont have a digital meter that works, but it was yellowish-greenish with the liquid kit so it must be better than the RED i was getting in my runoff

I already did this.. every time you water them they should be drenched if thers holes it will drain off eccess you could techniclly flush by puting it under a faucet for like an hour or 2 with the water running, it will drain off when you shut the water off
and it will dry out no slower than if you watered it well

They are almost a month old and had lots of too high pH issues in the first few weeks of their lives which resulted in all sortsa mutations and other problems.. of course I had finally got this corrected and now soil pH is once again an issue. I am sure I leeched all the nutes out of the soil too, and I've never fed them any nutrients before because from early on they had yellow tips from the FFOF they are in. yea.. well heres what they look like now after the flush plus first nute feeding.. they wilt for a long time when I give them a lot of water. i gave them 2tsp of grow big after I finished flushing them. the run off water during flushing was still much too low of a pH.. i hope proper waterings will correct this, does anyone know? Do those pots have holes in the bottom ? dude they look fine, all over this site is full of worry, please remember they are weeds, to much is made of PH, get into a routine feeding your plants, like 1/2 a pint every 4 days, a very small amount of food goes a long way, learn to read your plants leaves etc and they will be fine.

If they wilt alot its because your giving them to much feed/water, as ive said routine will help them and you dude.

wait, can you tell me how you tested your runoff using a liquid ph tester? I have tried this a few times but the runoff water color ALWAYS ruins the test. How did you accurately test the runoff using that type tester?

A witch pH tester do you have? If it the Milwaukee pH600, its not that acurate I had to a calibrate it almost every three days. So I went ahead an bought the pH51. The guys at milwaukee suport will tell you to leave it in tap water. Also when you got the meter did you leave it in a glass of water for 12 hours (6) before calibrating it, if it is the pH51 the pH600 you only have to leave it in for 3 to 4 hours.

i use this meter for my hydro system...

only need to calibrate it once a month (and it stays in the reservoir 24/7)

most its fluctuated thus far tho is .3...

i highly highly recommend it.. could be more than what you need tho...
