Sea of green is taking small plants (usually clones) and using lots of them with short or no veg time. It doesn't yield as much as a big tree but you can turn it over quickly and get more yield in the long run.

I am not sure there is an accepted distance for the plants to be apart. I would say experiment and see what works best for your situation.

That is SCROG. Sometimes people get them mixed up. Scrog uses like chicken wire to sort of train the tops of fewer plants to grow equal distance from the light thereby maximizing yield per plant.

You squeeze as many in as you can. Sog or Sea Of Green basically is using as many plants as you can cramp into a spot with little to no veg time used. You tend to lollipop the plants and many prefer adding a trellis or screen(known as scrog) to the top to force the plants to grow even heights. It slows the top branches so the slower side one come up and you get more tops.The amount of space dictates your SOG metheds and amount of plants.Growing method also dictates this as in hydro you can get more plants in a space then in soil. Then you make sure the light coverage will match your grow area correctly.

It's not really a good idea to put multiple plants together.
