Can you check my set-up, please?

Hello all,
Working on getting my first set-up together. I am building a 6-cup Bubbleponics system to be used in 3'x8' room. I am probably going to cut the room in half long ways. I will be lining the walls with mylar.

My real question is about lighting. After much reading I am planning on using brooder reflectors. From the top center I am wanting to use a 400w HPS. I am also wanting to add 1-2 more CFLS. I read 23w is best to use with this combo, but at Lowes I have seen 23w CFLS from 3,500 K to 27,000 K. What should I use? Thanks in adavance!

really its just the more light the better untill you start bleaching your girls.. you can't go wrong with mh and hps.. use the 27k for flower.

I would go with t-5 tubes and then the other side with 400 hps. Are you trying to make a mother and have some clones?

being my first attempt, what sounds ideal to me is a 400w HPS on top and a 23w CFL 3,500k and a 23w CFL 27,000k all at once, will this work? do I need to change when I go to flower?

I am not looking to flower or keep a mother or anything, I may eventually clone, but I don't think so with my first run.

I dont know man I just never use HPS lights for veg because they will stretch and alot of stems unless you have 2 bulbs for your hps. One for red spectrum for flowering and blue for veg.

that setup will work great but you if you want hps for both growing stages. so the color spectrum is very important. well if you have an 8 feet ceiling then you could have 6 foot plant lol

So should I veg with cfl, then switch to the 400 hps and the 27,000 k cfl when I go to 12/12?

yeah you can veg. with CFL but you need alot maybe 3 on the top and 3 on the side. you need at least 100-200 watts on one plant and CFL doesnt work well far away so they need to be close.

I was afraid of needing too many cfl's during veg, that's why I thought I would have the 400w hps? is it not possible to run a 400w hps from top, 1 23w cfl 3,500 and 1 23w 27,000 from seed the harvest? Of course I would switch to 12/12 to flower. If not what would be the best set up with three brooder lights?

If thats what you want to do. It will still work but my way would just make your plant more bushy and shorter, don't get me wrong if you have the room to have a tall one then go for it. good luck.

A 400W light is best suited for a 3x3 space. I'd work to keep plant height under three feet tall. If you supercrop and/or FIM you only need maybe four bushy plants to fill a 3x3 space. A couple of ounces per plant is very doable. Some of the vets here can do even better.

if your useing the samelight for veg and flower then go and buy a 400 wtt mh bulb and run it in there for veg then switch it out to the hps bulb when time to flower.
