Hey everyone, this is my first post. A few friends and I just got a house and decided to grow some plants, I'm pretty happy that I found Rollitup. I've learned alot today.

That being said, our grow room is going to be in a basement room that houses the water heater (in a deep hole, its pretty weird), alot of dust, and cobwebs.

To help get rid of the risk of dust and general dirty basement room hazards we decided to build a closet to house our li'l op. We'll be growing organically using a guide off of High Times as a guidline that recommends 5 gallon buckets and TLC with the right soil and compost teas, along some info I found on here.

We'll be growing 4 plants (OG Kush, Arjan's Strawberry Haze, Super Lemon Haze, and BC Bud Black.) We'll probably keep a mother plant of whichever strain we like best. What would be your recommendations for design and lighting? We're shooting for less than $550 but a little more is ok and less is even better

We're shooting for no bigger than a porto potty, as discretion isn't a super big deal in the spider room as we've named (and labeled) it.

be sure to clean the room and use a product to desinfect the room. then you can start it after 2-3 day of fresh air ventilation to get rid of the toxin in the air.

Because otherwise you might add some chance of having some (weed spider) which is some spider that will go on ure buds and make web and make it rot.

So be sure to start from 100% clean place that you would eat on the floor.

And thats even if you make a closed because its easy for em to reach it trust me.

Other then that, nice plan!

I was just on ebay and there is company selling digital lumatek 600 watt ballast ,vented reflector, hps bulb, and mh bulb delivered for $355. Add an inline fan and some ducting and such and you can stay within your price range easy. Just make sure to clean up really good before you start building.

paint the closet flat white,floor & all. a 400 or 600 watt HPS will give you enough light.start your seeds under a few CFLs & start 2-3x as many seeds as you expect to harvest so you can kill off the boys. dont forget venting and keep reading

Too bad they dont have $100.00 400w HPS, lol.. Those are the cheapest prices ive seen other than that "other" place ( HTGSupply ).. Speaking of which, HTG has been down for a long time and all there ebay items pulled.. If they do open back up for buisness , watch there prices be higher then before lol.

the DIYer can get warehouse lights on ebay for cheap. you just have to shop for them.

brand new light and was total of 32 bucks including shipping. bought on ebay 400w HPS


took it apart and now looks like this.


i did the same thing with a metal halide ballast made remote and a reflector.
