nope.Go with some flouros for veg.

yes you can screw them in a lightsocket and turn on a switch to get lite.. kinda like a torch

Halogens get to hot and don't put off the right spectrum. If staying non HID then get 6500K CFLs for vegging and 2300/2700k CFLs for flowering.
