Another newb question...Important

I've read where some folks speak of "topping" a plant. Well, what does this mean? Taking off all stems near the bottom or what? I'll have pic of my just brought inside baby today.

it means pinching the top of the plant off (1") so that it will bush out instead of growing staight up.

Early Vegetative Pruning

After the tops come off, there's a window of opportunity to get those second-story branches to reach up to the top floor and stay there. After I've got the four main tops at the same level (more or less) and the plant is throwing growth shoots on those top branches, I'll FIM those new shoots at the top. This creates a thick canopy of bud sites at the top, and the secondary bud sites are close to the top as well. I use this method for plants that will finish flowering at about two & one-half feet. Anything shorter, like in a clone, quick turnaround garden, the FIMing should happen straight away. FIM it early (fourth or fifth leaf set) to keep it short. These seedlings were topped at the fourth node (leaf set), and FIM'd later to gain height.

After the attack

Post battle schematics

Group before the Battle

These are the NLs before boot camp.

After training

The soldiers, waiting for their next assignment. (after pruning)

The results are in!

This is the result of all that pruning and FIMing.

Each of those tops will be a nice, tight Northern Lights bud.

Wow, so the topping comes with practice. I don't have a too healthy of a green thumb so i'll just let it grow. I would like to try though. This plant is malnourished anyways. No nutrients besides what was in the starting soil. Fans on the leaves are small and slim and the stalk is thin also. I'll post some pics when my wife charges her camera.

Don't worry bro you'll find the method of training that addresses your needs in the best way possible. I have yet to try topping on cannabis but I've tried it on other plants to experiment. It takes some time but once it fully recovers you have a monster in the making lol. Good luck!

Thanks Nemo, I see you're in Duval. I'm bout 1 1/2 hrs. away. I'm bout 30mins from Brunswick. The sun isn't playing right today so my ladies are just chilling waiting for a full day of sun.
