Can you tell me why my plant wont drink?

i have about a 4' plant approximately 4 weeks into flower. she used to drink 1 gal+ during her waterings.(this was about a month ago). second to last watering she took 1/2 gal before draining to bottom. just today, she took only a 1/4 gal. it's not overwatering. i'm waiting 5+ days between waterings. when i water, it's bone dry in there. today all her bottom leaves were wilted... gave her 1/4 gal till she drained and now they're picking back up. i dont understand why she's taking next to no water.... my ph is good, my soil is foxfarm along with my flower nutes.... anyone give me a hand...?

It's probably because the pot that the plant is sitting in is filled with roots.
The pot doesn't retain water like it used too, because there was more soil in there than roots when you started.
So when you water it all just drains out.

it's in a 5 gallon bucket.... is there something i could do ? should i be concerned? i also am getting slight yellowing on leaf tips....

i dont believe i over fertilized though.... nute bottle recommends 3 tablspoons a gallon, and i've been goin 2 tablespoons.....

too many nutes will slow the growing, meaning it will use less water as well

once again I agree with beef. you can try to put more soil if you have room. I cant imagine a 5 gallon pot not holding water that's weird. relax with the nutes for a week.

Salts can still build up in the soil, do you have a TDS meter to test your ppm? if you do test your run off and see if you overfertalized

This is seriously a must for grows, i havent had a problem since, and before there was always something wrong. It measures the nutrient levels of water, so you flush your plants and test the run-off to make sure your plants are at an optimum nutrient level. Best thing ive bought, and they are cheeeap

you could poke a few holes in the soil for the water to seep down, i never heard of a problem like this tho. a thirsty plant and dry water should want to drink. all i can think of is maybe theres alot of clay in your soil if your just using yard soil...

ok, i will check into getting a tds meter. and yea, it's a really fcked up situation. she went from drinking a gallon and a 1/2 to only 1/4 of a gallon in like 2 weeks. i checked soil about 3" down and it was BONE dry today before i watered. poured my 1/4 gallon in, and it almost immediately made it out of the bottom and into my catch tray... it was unbelievable. i will get the meter asap. i've also got yellowing bottom leaves so i'm thinking maybe nitrogen defeciency? i'm using fox farm soil and nutes and doin everything by the book.... idk what happened......

for right now i would flush your plants with as much water as you can get on them, and then refertalize on your program, good luck

Hanna makes a TDS/PPM/PH/Temp meter combo for only 160$ I believe. You def. need to check into that!
