I guess you are unaware that it was the democrats who made marijuana illegal.
Guess you didn't know that the 75th congress was a democrat majority in both house and senate, under Roosevelt (D). (Marhiuana tax act of 1937)
Or that it was again a democratic majority in both house and senate which passed the Controlled Substances Act in '70. (91st Congress)
Or that democrats sponsored both of those bills... or that Anslinger himself (the man who killed marijuanna) was a democrat. It was he who is always quoted talking about the mexicans and negroes, and generated all the propaganda you are all so fond of quoting (refer madness, etc).
Yes, Reagan created the war on drugs... but... why is marijuana a drug?
I guess you folks are also unaware that the KKK was spewed forth onto this earth by the democratic party, with the sole purpose of intimidating Republicans. To frighten them into not voting... that was their purpose, and probably the reason the first Grand Wizard of the KKK was honored at the Democratic National Convention. Nobody told you in school that they served as the strong arm of the Democratic party during the reconstruction era... you know... after the civil war... Abe Lincoln (R)? Or that Jim Crow laws were birthed of the democrats, and EVENTUALLY defeated by republicans. Republicans also had that anti-lynching legislation... which the dems fought tooth an nail. The civil rights act of 64 you might mention... as the democrats do whenever they get a chance. 60% of democrats voted for it... as opposed to 80% of republicans.
And, of course, there was that emancipation proclamation, and subsequent 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments which abolished slavery, gave equal protection and rights to vote for blacks... so... yeah... there's that. I expect the Klan did vote red this year... ya know... considering.
Anybody remember senior Senator Byrd? Former senate leader of the democratic party? KKK member?
He is STILL in the senate.
By all means... preach to me the racism and drug phobias of the republican party.
