First Grow Room Setup. Need Some Pointers.

After reading a ton of posts on this site, I have decided to try my first grow room. So hopefully you guys can help me out a bit.

I am working with limited space for my first grow, and I'm going to use the same space for Veg and flowering.

I have some monetary resources but I am not made of money so the more economic the better.

Before i even think of starting some seed, I want to see if this space is somewhat viable for growing.

The Dimensions are as follows.
27"deep x 30" wide x 34" tall.

I know this seems a bit compact but i have seen some small grow rooms on the forums so I hope this will work.

My first question is what kind of lighting do you guys think i should use? I am a noob at all of this so bare with me :?.

I was thinking something like this for lighting... Not sure but i wanted to see what you guys think.

My first task is to create a wood frame to sit on top of the Water heater.

There is tile ceiling so i will have easy access to run exhaust from there.

This is all I have for now but will keep it updated as best as possible.

Sorry for the shitty iPhone pics. Its all I have for the moment.

Please, if you have any suggestions, tips or advice, Post them! I need as much help as possible. Thank you.

Hate to rain on your parade but this has all the makings of a bad idea. You dont have the right lights in mind at all. You would be growing on top of a water heater, near electric or gas lines and you do have to water plants. Plus if your water heater breaks you have to rush all your plants out so they dont get caught. Let alone if you dont go organic who knows what kind of chemicals you are using near a pilot light without knowing the combustibility or flammability of your chemicals. If I was you I would do a whole lot more reading and thought planning before you go setting up in what is just generally a bad area to try and grow. Not trying to be a dick, but you need to read a whole lot more before you undertake this project, it seems as though you have bad information or not enough information to know what works, doesn't work, and what is just down right dangerous. Just my opinion.

Bro, podunk421 is right on target with his advice.
WRONG LIGHTS to start with.
Read up on CFLs here for LIGHT knowledge: CFL Tutorial -

and here, look at this:
My DIY Bubbleponics DWC

you really need to buy a book and read the FAQ on this site.

Many here will glady help you, THE BUBBLEHEADS have sworn to help all new growers here, but you ahve much to read first.

Yeah, Thanks for the advice... I have came to the same conclusion after i had posted this and did some more research... It was just an idea as i am just limited with a place to put it. But i am looking to construct a grow box and use CFLs after reading some good posts. Thanks for the input and the help.

Heres my grow box with close to the same dimensions. A speaker box, cut a hole on top and put a 70 watt hps security light on top for flower and cfl's in 3 corners for veg, a small hole in front and back with 2 computer fans 1 blowing in & 1 out
