Hey this is my 2nd attempt of growing some plants and this time i think I know more now, but I'm still going on a low budget, cuz i'm broke..i think i spent too much money on ganja:weed: LoL. I got a cardboard box with a 100 watt light in it, with foil inside to reflect the light, 2 holes in the box so the fan can blow the wind current through kinda, and i'm growing 2 baby plants in it...I was wondering if i could get some input and advice about this, cuz i need it lol....Would it be better just to put my plants in the window or continue using this idea and infact upgrade if i can 2?

ok man heres the thing
if your growing in your parents house
stop now unless they are ok with it

if its ok then save your lunch money
go to wally world and at least get a rubbermaid tube for $4
those dont catch on fire
aluminum foil doesnt reflect light it only heats up
mylar or white paint are the 2 things to go with
most people have an old can of white primer wall paint in the attic or shed from when the house was built
ask the neighbor man something
here is the light you want
it will last your for 2 weeks on one plant, the sight says 16 but im pretty sure at the store its 10
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5684723
so for about 20 bucks you have a rubbermaid tub a 42 watt cfl make sure its daylight
i got a 7 dollar fan to move the air around
find some white paint but its not that important if you ask me not till you actually have leaves on your plant
your box is a risk to your house tho
it will catch on fire the alluminum can heat up and the cardboard will start straight up man
i dont advise that at all
i did the exact same thing you did when i first start and as soon as i put a pic on riu a guy told me the same thing
but like a said rubbermaid 4 bucks at walmart
that light bulb sucks tho man i hate to say it find a cfl and the 42 watt will work
look through this

ohhh...i see now... lol
yeah thanks for the advice on that tho, I'm jus have to take a trip down to wal-mart and get the light and a rubbermaid and mylar...well if they dont have mylar I'll go to home depot which is closer...but yeah i appreciate the advice on that...so Should I just put them in the window and throw away the box until I get all of this together? and yeah its complicated...my mom is kinda cool with it, but she flipped out when she saw that box, cuz of how much of a fire hazord it is, so i asked for some advice here before i continued to use this box

Dude, I'm not going to be rude, but that set up looks terrible, absoluty terrible. Do yourself a big favor and study these forums for months until you know what you are doing. But +rep on the effort my good man.

For one, never use incandecsant light bulbs, the spectrum is way off and they produce too much heat. As for your aluminum foil, all that will be doing is creating hot spots and you will burn your plant. You have to use mylar, white paint, or a reflective emergency blanket. Have your lights directly above the plant, cfl lights should be no more then 2 inches away from the highest point of the plant, preferably one inch.

You're going to need two types of cfl's for growing, 4 soft whites (2700k) and 4 daylight (6500k). Soft white is for flowering and daylight is for vegging.

My advice to you is to tear that thing down, and start new in a couple months after you have STUDIED these forums. Read, read, and read until your eyes are bleeding, you're lungs will thank you after growing some suitable smoke.

If this is all too much on your budget, may I suggest growing outdoors next spring and READ READ READ until then. When you are growing, read some more, you can never stop learning.

Edit: Nice 4:20 post :)

Wow gotta agree thats a bad setup your asking for a disaster. Depending on where you live I'd take those babies outside and atleast you might get a quad off them. But you need to study up and look at some of the set ups that are on here..And if you are broke just take your time in aquiring some things a little at a time. Because shit can be pricey... But for what you got now I'd take outside bro.....
