Aeroponics- roots hitting the mister or fogger

ive been doing a lot of research on aeroponic sysystems. every system i see has a mister or fogger about half way down the rez and the aquamist system (which i know is not a true aeroponics system) has a rotating sprinkler. what keeps the roots from getting damaged by the mister or the sprinkler? will the roots be harmed if they hit the water level of the rez? if i let a one week old clone veg for 3 weeks and flower for 2 and a half months how much space will i need for the roots.

I am about to build a similar system, and was curious to the answers here. I have thought of the same questions myself...

in dwc the roots are fine to go in the res i'd imagine its the same but i use eb flow so not sure. I'd like to make an aero room when i expand.

If the spray is high flow, low pressure it`ll be like soft rain so no root damage. If its high pressure, low flow there`s very little water, you get a soft mist and again no root damage.
If you have high flow at high pressure (like a firehose) you won`t have any roots
