I've got 11 plants under a 600watt hps and a 175 MH soon to be 250 hps. The girls are in their third week of flower and two or three of them will be taller than to room (aprox 7 1/2 ft with lights all the way up) at this rate of growth i am guessing within a week or two. I meant to top them but missed the window of opportunity long ago. My last grow got pretty tall but I only had around 300 watts for ten so they were always fighting for light and alot slower growing. I havnt got a clue as to what to do about this other than literally making the tops of the plants do a U turn and head towards the ground with string or something. Anyone have any idea on what to do? I am hoping they may slow down as they begin to put more energy into producing buds. There are three strains Big bud (tallest) Mountain mist (i know its intended to be grown outdoors) and a strain labled by sensi seeds as TD ( if anybody knows what that stands for I'd love to know ).

their growth will slow, if it hasn't slowed or stopped already. if they continue to grow however, yes, tie them up and bend the tallest portions down and stake them to something. i just had to do that with the monster Northern Lights of mine in my avatar. i now have a nice even canopy and have exposed alot more bud sites to light. i'd like to see pics of your setup.... i've never seen 7 1/2 feet of vertical lighting... that'd be cool good luck on your grow....

Agreed. Tie those suckers down, get some plant yoyos or string is fine.

Hard to say what your plants are like at 3 weeks of flowering without pics, but i've topped females before this far into 12/12 and they've been find. In fact, it actually slowed the onset of flowering on one of my jock horror's and made it bush out like it was 3 or 4 plants compared to what it was before.

I also use a technique of squashing the main plant stem almost to the point where it snaps and then tie some sticking plaster tape around the bend to reinforce it, i can then grow dead horizontal with a string to train it along sideways for support.

It will slow down your flowering process but you can re-pot them on a 45degree angle on their pots so they grow sideways with training (no bending of breaking stems needed). You grow the main stem/trunk almost parallel to the ground and each node will grow upwards like a mini plant in itself, giving a small cola from each node growth. Some people don't like to stress plants when they are flowering, but all i notice is they grow bigger and take longer to flower. (hard to say without proper testing with plants side by side however, but this method has worked well for me).

the main bud (cola?) is already forming so i am hesitant to cut that off. I will be the first to say that i am new to this. I was under the impression that the toping process needed to be done before the 5th node forms, must have just been misinformation. i'll get in there and measure them tonight when they wake up at 9 and maybe get a pic or two up. from what i remember there are 3 that are taller than me (6'4") and the rest i'd guess are about 5 feet tall. I'm only worried about the big bud lankys. I'll do a search on tying down but i am assuming you start bending them a little and then more and more each day. What about a string going up to the celling at a chosen height and then another one pulling the top down from that tied point. I am sorry for how crudely that method was explained i hope what i'm saying makes sense.
