Starting from seed (First Grow)

Ok well i start germinating my seeds yesterday, i folded about 7 of them up in a moist napkin. I plan to start them in plastic cups for the first week or so before i transplant them to 5 or 10 gallon pots, I dont want to have to transplant them more than once because of stress.

I have not decided on lighting but sense im broke im prolly going with CFL lighting. I dont have much invested in the seeds there some crap left over from my over priced 1/4. If this goes well i plan on visiting a seed bank.

Well that is where i am so far any suggestions would be great. :joint:

Use enough light and fert or it isn't worth trying. Unfortunately, it's one of those things that can't be done on the super cheap.

I would recommend a moisture meter, you can pick one up at Lowes for about 6 dollars - or the moisture/PH/Light one for 10. I am on my first grow too - transplanted my seedlings into three gallon pots eight days ago - seemed pretty moist so I only put about 12 oz water in instead of the "water thouroghly" the bag said - yesterday the top soil seemed to be finally starting to dry, but I stuck the meter in just in case - and the soil six inches down is still more than wet enough. Long story short - would have over watered 'em for sure without it, and they are a cheap grab.
Good luck!8)

my advice is to devise a clever cfl rig, for seven plants it may need to be pretty big. or several smaller ones. Y splitters from the hardware store are really helpful too.

My first time was super cheap. I used an old wardrobe, a 150w light (15 bones at HD) and a big old green fan like what your gramma used in her window. I abused the heck out the girls and in the end realized an important lesson... its a WEED and it is good at adapting to almost anything. However... if you are looking for bountiful results... you are gonna have to cough up some green before you get to burn it. Two abused trees got me 3/4.
I encourage yo to work within yor budget. But don't expect a large haul without lots of time, energy, TLC and of course the almighty dollar.

Hope that helps!

Indoor or outdoor?
I am doing it indoors, gunna build two 3ftx2ftx4ft grow boxes. I plan to use cpu fans for intake and exhaust. I am willing to put a li'l money in it up front but im not gunna go all out till i get the hang of it.

I plan on doing this as a hobby not really for any kind of income.

I would like to ask something though, Ok lets say out of the seven seeds i get 4 female plans and i decide to keep them. Is there any reason to keep male plants or just chop them as soon as i see them.
I am hoping 3ftx2ftx4ft is big enough to grow 2 plans per box :?

if by lowkey, i hope u mean ur running all ur equipment on a generator or batteries. but that sucks u can't grow outside, soooooo much more yield:peace:

if you are using cfls you wont need a generator they are energy efficent bulbs that use around 75% less energy than normal incandescent bulbs. you can also get some great weed from bagseed its cool because its like a box of chocolates you never know what you are gonna get. to keep it lowkey though i suggest building or buying a carbon filter to get rid of the smell there are some great diy ones on the site

Yeah I have already got some good schematics for a carbon filter you can build on your own, found there here as a matter a fact.

I see you're planning to use cpu fans for venting. From what I've seen cpu fans don't give much bang for your buck. I bought a couple of bathroom exhaust fans for less than 15 bones a piece at Lowes that provide 50 cfm. I have plenty of cpu fans that just don't move much air. I think the bathroom exhaust fans are a better bet.

I think that is a good idea man, thx grim. I am for sure gunna look into that because i was worried about air flow. I really wish i had some pictures but i ended up having to do the grow at my brothers house. I do have four plants sprouted and under and flourecent like. Im useing merical grow potting mix and solo cups, plant to transplant into 2gal pots in five days(I would rather go 5gal but space does not permit). I am totaly new to all of this and this is my first run at it ever(thats why i use bagseeds:evil:).
