no he said rocks but i thought if it was a promix in a bucket with holes drilled in it i wouldnt get root rot but he says i need some sort of rock maybe stones for what i dont know
A few gardeners do recommend putting a small layer of stones at the bottom of the pots, so that any water in the tray underneath the pot will not have all the roots sitting in it. But for our purposes, where we use carefully controlled amounts of feed and water to try and get the most from our babies, there shouldn't be much water in the tray anyway, at least not for long.
I Grew in soil and put river rocks on the bottom for drainage purpose, I used a HPS so whatever water was left in the tray would evaporate. I don't think you will have any problems as long as the water drains thru the holes. If anything I think you will just have to water less, Just make sure you let the soil dry out real good before watering again and you should be fine, I don't know what promix is though, so maybe someone else can chime in? If it's just soil you'll should be fine.
