July 15th, I just took two cuttings from the biggest of the girls to clone. I think I am a couple of days away from the other two of having a good cutting. I plan now not in the beginning but I do now think I will get two clones of of each of the 3 girls and keep these seperate from the others with the male. I am sure barring something unforeseen like a cow munching away that I will have three girls for my seeds. Sure would like to find the asshole that got my stash and all of my seeds from the last two grows. Anyway, I will just hit the pipe and think good thoughts of this years grow. Thanks to everyone who has read the journal.

Well, today is really nasty again outside, very windy rainy and cold. Two days in a row of this crappy weather not good for the growth, but the girls and the guy seem go be holding their own and seem to still be growing at a decent rate, just hope that the weather gives me a break soon. The clones tops are still looking good and fresh this morning, always a good sign. I wish that it was a bit warmer for them, thinking of moving them to the greenhouse to root. I don't know though since they have been in this weather since birth. Thanks to all the people reading and especial thanks to the people that have posted comments......

All I can say at this point is it has been a shitty grow this year. I took a clone off a plant yesterday and it is doing well today, nice and upright everything you want. The two clones I took previously are also doing well....for males....lol. The plant they came off of showed signs of a male yesterday and today I believe without a doubt it is a male.....just unbelievable. I hope to get another clone off of the second plant this evening or in the morning I would like just a bit more growth on it before I take the cutting. The good news is I just ordered some seeds from cannibis seeds.......they had a nice special on and I couldn't resist introducing some new genetics into my program after this today. Thanks to all the readers and the people that have taken time to post comments.....

Well the end of another week, the weather hasn't been very favorable for the girls this week. Seems like non stop clouds, rain, fog and a howling wind. I am thinking that might have had something to do with the number of males this year. I do have one male that I am happy with now, I threw the other two away, compost pile here they come. The one male I do have I am starting two clones....lol clones I started when I swore it was going to be a female, anyway I am going to save the pollin from this male for the future if I don't have a proper male when I am ready to pollinate. I have three clones started that are females without a doubt their mothers have just shown sex, so these might be a bit slow to get started really well but as long as they survive and go into flower I am a happy daddy.
Today, I move the girls around because of the weather. I have moved the girls to my small greenhouse for the afternoons and nights. They have been getting too much rain being in containers and were starting to show some signs of water stress. 6 hours in the greenhouse with the warmer temps (high 70s) with a small breeze blowing through there they look better already. Also I had moved them under the big greenhouse top, all two open sides currently to cut the wind and the rain they receive. The combination seems to have helped them, not that they really looked in any real danger. Today they also got a good misty with a diluted horse manure tea. The tea was really diluted just enough for a little treat.
I almost forgot I FIMMed today the one super seed plant, hope a girl, I don't know what strain it is right now to be honest, but it appears to be sativa/indica so with the strains I had on hand my guess is Hawaii x Skunk#1....we can hope sure was a good smoke last year.
Sorry no pics today it was raining too much and didn't feel like dragging the girls inside, tomorrow rain or shine I will post the new pics.......thanks to all the reads and a few more posts sure would be nice. Tell me I am right or wrong or any suggestions you have. No matter how long I grow I am still learning and trying new things all the time.

Oh what people do for the love of their girls.......lol. It is 6:30 on Sunday morning and I have visited the girls and their babies, having my smoke and morning coffee and as promised took some pics this morning. The bad news is there is still rain outside and it is still cooler than normal. I took these pics and was in a hurry because it started raining while I was in the greenhouse, I will try and get some better pics later but here is a start.
The first two plants are 6 weeks today and have had a total of 3 lower branches removed for clones. Then we have a 5 week old plant the one with the little blue things sticking are to help me keep track of which plants are which. The third plant is the one from Nirvana, not growing very well but there is still hope for it, I FIMMed that one yesterday as you can see the top missing in the pic, then there are the new little babies. The babies are looking good I think nice and perky. All comments welcomed.

I know that I am not awake yet or what I just smoked put me back into a haze. I forgot to mention that putting the girls in the greenhouse for the night seems to have been the magic tonic for them. The temp was still very comfy this morning probably around 70 in there and they perked up and got most of their good color back, sorry pics show them a bit lighter color than what they are in person, what can I say laptop cam.....lol. thanks for reading.

thanks benny, posted in yours last night. I just checked the stems and don't see any roots yet I can see where there seem to some swelling of the tissue in a few spots, good sign. Here are some pics I took this morning of the three girls...oh their mothers are doing great 3 days in the greenhouse out of the cold and wet and they have really picked it up in the veg the last few days. I am really stoked at what they have started to do. I am taking their height today so I will post again this afternoon. The male is alone now down in the garden under shelter. He is showing a really nice growth pattern for what I am looking to use here. Enough rambling, I'll take my daze back to work.

Well the day is done, the babies are back in the greenhouse for the night along with the clones. I measured the two big girls today, they are at a shade over 18 inches and in their third day of flower. Granted they are not very tall but they only had 4 weeks before the summer equinox and you just can't fool the deceasing daylight outside. My other two girls, well the one I FIMMed on Sunday is finally showing signs of growing again from the top. The side shoots have done well during this time, but definitely shocked the crap out of that little girl. The other one I FIMMed today, figured I might as well both will go straight to flower when they are mature enough this time of year. The clones are the same but I just had to get a clone or two off of them and figure that the clones are the ones that I will pollinate for next years seeds.
My loving wife just mailed a new camera to me today so with any luck in two weeks I will be able to take some decent pictures again. She also sent me today my lowryder seeds, just am excited about trying these. I didn't get the lowryder 2 but got the lowryder 1 from http://www.sanniesshop.com/sannies-seeds-c-167.html they have great prices and now we will see about the product.

I read the entire thread, it's interesting to view grows in other parts of the world. Despite the leaf cutter ants and rainy weather your plants are thriving, and at least the thieves didn't steal your stereo lol

the greenhouse was a great idea, as it provides some shelter from the wind, and keeps them dry.
Some may think planting by the phases of the moon is BS, but farmers have been doing this for 1000's of years. A full moon draws moisture up, so is seems like the most logical time to plant outdoors, and harvests are ofter done by the light of the moon.
Do you ever choose strains based on the climate they originated, for better tolerance in your climate? I would think panama red is a good choice.
I would have bread the hermaphrodite rather than a male, because it guarantees (genetically) that the seed will produce females, and hermaphrodites, whereas one male plant can pollinate an entire crop.

I had been growing some afghani which just thrived here at the altitude. This years crop I still have good hope for, the hermie was a thought of keeping but I just wasn't sure at the time if I wanted that in the gene pool or not. I have my male now secluded from everyone else and just wanting to collect enough pollen off of it to pollinate a couple of branches of two of the girls. This should give me a start for next year and I am hoping to get somemore seeds in the afghani strain and a good sativa, I have had excellent luck with sativa based plants here although they say that they don't like being this high up. I found yesterday a pic of my mother from 2007. I took many clones from her then pollinated her and got what I thought was going to be my stash of seeds for years to come, oh well. thanks again for the comment and I am watching your grow with great interest, I want to learn how to grow inside to keep my males seperate and try a little breeding that way. Oh the first pic of the girl in the 5 gallon bucket is the mother I mentioned and the other one is a sativa that grew to over 20 feet with a slightly larger than 14 foot girth.......it was great lady. Next year I get to go for the monsters again......lol, I hope. Thank again.

That tree or tree to be in the pic was planted with the moon in Feb 2007 and harvested at the end of October that year. I wish I could dig up my old grow journal from back then, it was under Shiman 51, I have a friend with a disc that has the entire grow on it. That girl her name was Jane she was the littlest of the two in bud weight but the tallest by about 2 feet, Mary was the other girl, I know not original but I name the two biggest girls that every year at flower time...it was a glorious year.....lol. Benny I hope I can get the disc with those pics of her in full bloom. If I remember correctly that picture was taken in June of that year.
Well to the business of the babies today.....lol. I must have really messed up the FIMM on the first girl I did she has just started to show any signs of new growth on her top, 3 days of nothing, wow can you say shock!!!!! The under growth is doing really well now though and filling out nicely so it did have at least one good effect. the second one I did I think I got it right as it is showing the beginnings of a new top already. The big girls are showing signs of flower now on all their branches.
Today I gave the girls a spraying of I don't really know what is in it. LMAO I can't believe I sprayed my plants with it, but here is what it is made of supposedly worms and worm castings. I will get a pic of it posted in the morning, it is a local brew here in Costa Rica, their version of organics. The label is a photocopy of a worm...lol. Living in Costa Rica has put joy back in my life and adventure. To put it in the words of my grandad, it would knock a buzzard off a shit wagon....lol. Within two hours it really greened them up bigtime new pictures tomorrow. Thanks for all that read, my new friends here that post.........good luck with all your grows.

You are partial to sativa? I certainly would try more sativa's if I had unlimited vertical space
