Growing a couple on the balcony

Hey everyone, I picked up a couple of clones for free from my father in law ! He didn't have time to put all his out in the fields so he gave me a couple for shits !

He gave me one blue berry and one Chronic !

They are about 8 inches tall right now and I think I wanna try a SOG on the balcony..... any tips for the first timer ??? Can it be done ??? What is the best way to go with soil ? how big of a pot should I go per plant ?
At the moment the blue berry is very tall and skinny because he had them in a create in the back yard that was about 3 ft tall so they were streching to get to the light ! The Chronic plant is filling out nicely !

Thanks for the help !

Hey dude. Congrats on the clones...Have they already rooted? If not, put them in Jiffy plugs in a cloning box...you can make one simply, or buy one at WalMart/HD/Lowes...let them root. Don't nute them until they are rooted. Once rooted, you can transplant them into pots for your balcony. Good luck! You have nice strains!:peace:

if i were you i would start with the jiffy plugs until they root. then i would pick up a growing medium from http://organic-hydroponicsupplies.thebigtomato.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=tbt&StoreType=BtoC&Count1=826519191&Count2=743659615&CategoryID=22&Target=products.asp . grow them in small containers until they fill it and then transplant to a bigger container. if you start them in a big container then it will take longer for the plant to start growing. the tap root has to hit the bottom before they grow up.

With all due respect, I tend to disagree...put em' in a larger container...this will stimulate root growth, giving the roots more room to roam...the bigger the root system, the bigger the plant.

thanks for the replies guys !

They are in jiffy plugs right now and Im not sure if they have rooted but they look to be pretty decent size for a clone haha I would say they are rooted.
I wanted to move them into big pots right away to keep the amount of work down ! I would like to try for smaller bushy plants ??? just to keep the size down !

My balcony gets the sun from approx sunrise till about 1 oclock in the afternoon.... Is that enough sun light to generate growth ?

did you using a rooting hormone? If not, you should do some research on cloning...Cheers:peace:

that's understandable. larger root system does tend to mean larger plant but it is getting late in the year to be trying to grow a large plant from clone. a smaller pot is able to be filled faster which means that plant growth is able to take place faster. if he can grow them inside at all then yea i would say start out with a larger pot. then again clones do grow much faster than from seed. keep posting and give details. like to see how it turns out however ya do it.

I was wanting to do just that... I dont want huge plants and I dont smoke that much ... maybe a bowl a day or so.... SO I just wanted to get some personals..... I was thinking about doing a bit of LST since the one plant has gotten rather tall and lanky....

Just to clarify, I got these plants as CLONES... I didnt start them from scratch. The guy I got them off of knows what he is doing when it comes to cloning. I believe they are ready for bigger pots, I just want to get some pics to show you all and get the advice on what to do !

Now my question is about light.... They get roughly 6 hours of sunlight a day and the rest of the time is in shade.... is that enough light ?

In my opinion your plants don't need constant, full-on exposure to sun during the "light" period. They should be fine with what you've described. If you want to keep them small, transplant into a 1 gallon pot and LST/top them. If you want to see what happens with a balcony plant that got entirely too big, check out my current grow in my signature. Balcony plants are fun, but a little scary. Best of luck to you!

don't worry about all this fancy shit, if they are well established clones transplant them into whatever pot you plan on having them in throughout the duration of this grow. If your father in law is experienced with these strains he should be able to tell you if they will benefit from any, topping, fimming or whatever you may do.
