My tiny, but oh so neat grow box!

Looking great!
I am interested in seeing you out a whole bunch of pc fans in.
I don't know if I missed it but what are you doing with these girls when they get big enough?
Also might want to move this to a grow journal or indoor growing section.
Those two little early-birds I don't know about. Might be lucky enough to get them to revert and then at least I will have two confirmed little ladies to clone. Keep yor eyes peeled brother. I am constructing those fan-arrays as we speak (well, in my head at least). Must complete a pressing contract first and will then have both time and capital to tinker more. I'll consider your suggestion about moving the thread. As soon as I figure out how!

first about the fans, you could either add more, or simply add a higher rated fan. up to you really, i bet you like working on it and such so you will probably go with the cpu fans lol. anyway, about the space underneath, there really doesn't look like enough room for it. why not just set them up on the shelf and raise them up with a platform underneath them so they aren't in shade?

also, why not go all out and buy some mylar for the walls. it would help a bit more, even though i bet those walls are pretty reflective as is
Am I really that transparent? Seems like you know me already! Yes probably. I am also toying with the idea of having some fans to stir the air around mounted on thin stretched cords so that they will blow air around randomly, rather than concentrating on just the spot it is aimed at. Don't know if I'm over-engineering things a bit, but it kinda seems like the right thing to do; more like nature does it, you know. I have another roll of that ceiling insulation at my disposal, so I will probably go with that. The nice thing about that is that it is quite stiff and super-easy to handle. It sticks very well with silicone (the aquarium type; just to be safe) Also it has a nice texture on it, that scatters the light somewhat. My gut tells me this will render it impervious to hot spots and even better, will not cast harsh shadows (less shade on the lower branches).

nice but it seems a little small for all those plants
Yes I hear you, but the reason for this is that I would like to create a SOG-type setup and want to have plenty of standbys for when things go drastically wrong. If there is no more room in the box, I guess a separate flowering area may be in the cards. But seriously, I intend to raise perhaps either 9 or 4 plants to the end and harvest them. I guess I just like to hedge my bets and make sure I have only strong, healthy girls for my first grow. Anyway I have bags full of assorted seeds just sitting there.

I may be moving this thread here https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/209390-magical-mini-pyramid-grow-lots.html#post2685859 as suggested by another forumite. Let me know if you think I should be posting here or in the mentioned grow-journal section. I figured that the plants were the indicators as to how changes to the grow box as suggested by other people and perhaps put into practice has affected them. Anyhow let me know what you think oh learned friends.

That looks so amazing :) I wish i could make something like that hehe
Thanks Spliffman, that's much appreciated. It's a work in progress as I am about to report in a moment. Had some serious trouble with heat, but that's now sorted. Come back soon and read all about it!

This has been a harrowing week with temperatures plummeting into the thirties and less. As can be seen in the pics below, my little guys were not happy and had all but stopped growing entirely. I looked around for a solution to the issue and ended up removing the glass in between the lamps and the plants. Temperatures were up, but now some plants were burning because of their proximity to the lamp. I had to replace the glass and find another way.

Coincidentally, I was early spring-cleaning and came across an old space-heater that I had discarded because the fan was so noisy that it was unbearable. On closer inspection I found that one of the blades were cracked and with a dash of epoxy it was good as new. Now I had to find a method for regulating the temperature and came across this site http://www.craig.copperleife.com/tech/thermo/ Now I'm a complete novice, but managed to build and get it up and running, so anyone should basically be able to do it. What the circuit does is switch the heater on until the temperature reaches 26.4C/79.5F, when it is turned off (this takes about 55 seconds in that small space). The temperature then seems to continue rise to about 27.1C/80.8F, after which the temperature slowly begins to fall back down to 25.4C/77.7F when the heater kicks in again (takes about three minutes to cool down enough to activate the heater) The temperature then continues to fall to about 24C/75F before it quickly climbs back up and so on.

I will of course report any improvement to the plants with pics to boot.
