CFL - flourescent mix grow room?

I will be moving in the next week and i plan to grow a few more plants (maybe 3-4) at a time. My first plant was damaged from the heat, partly caused by poor ventilation, partly by way too many cfls. I wanted to wrap them around the plant so that it would bud all over and not just up top, but it backfired on me.
So can anyone tell me this?

Does it sound like a good idea to have some 24-48" flourescents hanging on the walls with some cfl's up top?
I heard that flourescents can be touching the plant without damaging it and the cfl method definnitely works for tyhe main cola so can mixing these two methods work effeciently? the room is probably going to be about 5x5 feet if not larger.

not a perfesional by any means and new to this site as i see you are as well im runnin a four foot hood with two 48in floros reg shop ones(will be upgrading from htgs t5's) and i am also running 6 cfls and one 50/50 compact bulb all fairly close to the plant had it up for a few days and can see its growing faster, but in the long run not too sure (my first grow) as to what the yield change will be or if there will be one at all?? well peace! smoke one!

Well I went and ordered a 400 watt hps system with the eco bulb (with added blue spectrum for veg growth, eleiminating need for mh). It seems like it will do the job for me, however i'm still considering putting some flourescent tubes along the walls, as i heard they will not really affect the temp and will not burn on contact. Figure this way the HPS will hit the top buds and the flouro tubes can hit it from the sides for better light penetration.
Anyone ever try this or hear about this?
