I just got my 400 hps and it is pushing my grow room temps up to 100 degrees I have a 4in. inline fan ,but I am not sure how to hook it up. Would appreciate any help.

R u in a cabinet or closet or you have a grow closet with the vent and duct holes there already?You have a 4inch inline fan attach that with some ducting and putthe fan at the top of your grow room with one end by the bulb to suck the hot air it is giving off.

I am growing in my closet and I was thinking of cutting the hole in top of closet, but what will hold the fan in place.

A piece of cardboard wedged in should hold it in place or you can get some hooks and hang it

Mount your fan to the ceiling in your room and cut hole in the door to run duct thru. Or just up to the hole in the door that way you can open and close the door. Then cut a whole in the bottom of the door so air will be drawn in from the fan pushing the hot air out. You can cover the holes with a cold air return grill. That you can get at the home store. I like dryer duct, it is ridgid and flexible, and cheap best of all.
if you have the money invest in a cool tube or air cooled hood that can be directly attached to the inline fan this would eliminate the heat almost all together but remember that the heat and air will be odorous so you may want to buy a filter for your fan should it be pumped to a sketchy area.
