I water mine every other day but some days I may water a little more or less just depends on how hot it is. It was just brought to my attention that black pots outside can get too hot and affect your root system so consider than when you repot.

looks under-watered give it something to drink.

and under-fed look how the leaves at the bottom are yellowing and falling off, needs Nitrogen, needs Nutrients.

Its definitely watering issue not pot size issue, just so you know. Changing the pot size doesn't really fix any problems with your plant that couldn't have been fixed by proper feeding/watering cycles. However, does make it easier you will be able to water less often this way. When you transplant water it very heavily then wait a few days and start feeding it some nice nutrients.

its not under-water i water her everyday..but nutes i can agree on

1/2 gal in a pot that size probaly barely gets the top half wet. Gotta water until it runs out of the bottom of the pot. That may be part of the reason the roots are growing up. Besides being a bit rootbound.

water does run down the pot...should i move up to a gallon

You cannot go by exact measurements. You gotta give the plant what it needs. Water the pot, a good watering. Lift the pot and remember kinda what it feels like, weight. The check the pot by lifting again, when it feels light, water again. Its almost impossible to schedule waterings. Each stage of the plants life it uses different amount. As you get more grows behind you. You will get it figured out. But you plant still is looking nice. Well done.

I was just going to get to the amount you were using and cowboy brought the logic, As a rule for me and this only applies to Cali but your soil should always have slight moist look, never to dry or moist if you were in a humid climate that could be bad combo. That's why your soil looks so dry.

And the SoCal thing makes sense Tool. I am in the midwest and dont know first hand. But I do know how to grow, not just herb. I am a farmer also. But you point is about intake and transpiration, in SoCals case to keep cool. Bet the plants def need a constant intake at the roots. Great point Tool. +rep

I'm with toolong here; She's wilted, and possibly heat stresses.

A half gallon is not enough to thoroughly saturate the soil in that 5 gal pot.

Give her the 1/2 gal 0 wait 10 minutes (for the soil to wet) then give her another gallon. It's fine if 20% runs out the bottom.

Add a couple drops of dish soap, and it will help the watter penetrate the soil.

Only water again once it starts to dry out - when the planter feels light.

Re-potting wont hurt either - you'll be able to go a couple days between watering's in the new container IMO
