How much heat does that magnetic ballast throw off? What do you do for cooling the light if anything?

Great price.
I have this same light for 2 years as well. and the ballast doesn't put off much eat at all, still want to keep it away from flammable objects. I got the MH and HPS bulb for this ballast and the heat is alright...i've grown with an open reflector and an air cooled one.

Hello everybody.. I am in Central fl near the gulf of mexico (west of tampa), I know I shouldnt give location but if someone else is growing in this area we could maybe help each other. So i am going to start a few plants 5-15 in my back yard. They are good bagseeds. And next year I'm going to start a real grow (under 25plants) damn laws! I will be starting in early april and going until september or oct. Hoping for 4-6 footers next year. But is it too late for me to plant a couple like 15 and pull off a few pounds? I have successfully completed a 4plant grow already in my backyard, they were good quality but too many seeds cuz a hermie that i decided to keep. 2ft was the tallest they were started in january2008 and they flowered in april lol. wierd! But is it possible to start a few and pull good bud and weight?

You can have Sativas in a short space..

You just have to flower short clones and tie her down...

here these are 100% full Sativas...

And I say go 600...

anywhere you can fit a 400 and not have heat issues, will fit a 600

and the difference in the buds is DEFF. worth it...

I use 1 basic nute and h2o2 and my buds get like this... because of the light... nothing else... aircooled to the max... plants ALMOST touching the glass...

Wow. Gypsy that is some dank budd. On another note, I'm really tired of the inconsistent dealers in tampa bay and pinellas. and its also really hard to find any name brand strains in this neck of the woods. but i do get some good prices for midds.

I have 3 types at home...

2x HTG digi 600.. with a cooling fan built in , this is the coolest running ballast I have...

I also have a digi 600 galaxy, which is made for greenhouses, so it is sealed in epoxy, and gets very hot...

and a SOL magnectic 600 that gets every bit as hot as the galaxy...

now remember.. the galaxy gets hot cause it's made to be used in HUMID environments...

the HTG runs cool cause it's open and has a fan...

different ups and downs there...

What is your final weight after drying? I use my AeroGarden to clone or start seedling before I place them in my larger flower area. I want to reduce my grow area to a small cabinet.

I got 1.2 zips... but I had extra lights...

I just wanted to show the size of the plants..

there's people pulling 2 zips from the ag... also with extra lights..

my opinion is you can make something better and use a better light cheaper than buying an AG, but if you already have it...:hump: rock it...

I came across this system after searching around enough to become crosseyed. I figure if I buy it in bits and pieces, the shipping alone will add way to much to the final cost.

The shipping is also free on this setup. Whatya' think?

did you find this one? 600watt HPS/MH 110/220v digital ballast...

I have 2 of these and love them...

http://htgsupply.com/viewproduct.asp?productID=48956

$199.95 standard reflector...

or

$246.95 with a cool tube...

or

$247.95 with an air cooled reflector

and this fan/filter combo would match it perfect...

Just a thought on the green-sealed galaxy ballast...

They are made for greenhouse applications... where humidity is very high...

So they are sealed, encased in EPOXY, which protects the electronics , but it gets HOT AS SHIT...

I have a 600w version of the green galaxy... it's a kick ass ballast.. well built.. but hot as fuck.. you do not need this much heat in a small op...

If you use one of these sealed ballasts, make sure to put it remote...

But really, we do not have humidity issies in our op to warrant a sealed ballast...

My HTG ballasts have a built in fan... they run COOL to the touch.. all day long...

Just my experience... oh and HTG costumer service rocks!!!!

call the store.. do not buy on line... you might get a better deal yet... on shipping or a freebie.. they are awesome... I buy from them as much as I can because they back their products..

Even when there was a problem... in the end they made me happy...

ok enough gypsy talk for a bit...

fucking gypsies...

What's wrong with gypsies? My mother was hungarian and her father was a true gypsy in hungary. Thanks for the info, I spent an hour or two last night at htg supply putting together different systems but since I have no knowledge of what I'm looking at, it makes things difficult. I appreciate the info about the ballast, I'll have to go back and do it again when I get home from work later today. I owe, I owe, so it's off to work I go. Thanks again.

nothing wrong with them bro...

I'm a Gypsy... by blood and spirit... roots in old India and Romania...

it's just an expression I use to make fun of myself when I talk too much...

no dis-respect intended, or I would be offending my own kind ;-)

and check out HTG.. they'll do you good ...

First I would say make sure it is a hermie. And you mentioned that you are already into the flowering cycle for almost 6 weeks, chances are that the plants will be done in 2 more weeks, so you could let it finish growing. I have also heard that saying, but im not exactly sure if it is 100%true. I had 4 plants and one was a hermie but i got some good bud of all 4 plants but there was alot of seeds. I knew mine was a hermie within the first 2 weeks of flowering tho. So if your plant just started showing hermaphroditic signs I would say let it finish growing. Do you see any seeds developing in any of your plants??:peace:

If the sacs from the hermie have already opened your screwed. Your plant will stop growing bud and start seeding up, cutting your bud production way way down. if they are two plants and you are just screwing around you can let it grow and pull what pollen sacs you see off. My first grow i got a hermie and 2 females, I let the hermie grow and suffered no big consequence but I consider myself lucky. It was late in flowering and what the hermie did pollinate didnt turn out to bad, just had about 20 seeds out of the 3 plants of bud. Its your call...oh yeah beware that if you are growing indoors the pollin can stay in the room and possibaly pollinate your next grow.
