Dresser stealth grow

Hey everyone,

I decided i'm going to move the growing indoors and i'm in need of some advice.

I started designing a grow box for my closet that looks like a dresser. Not to hide from the rents... I just don't want the little siblings finding it. Trying to be a little responsible about it lol.



So I began by designing a dresser with google sketch up. I made it 5' tall and took a foot off of that to make a space for a veg room and clone room.

after realizing that the white widow that i want to grow is extremely tall, I ditched the veg and clone rooms. I'll just do that somewhere else.

I attached some pictures of what i'm lookin at now.

-The exhaust leads to the attic.
-Bottom fans are active intakes.
-I'm going to add a blower to the top
-The dimensions are 1'10"L x 1'2"D x 5'H. (too big? too small?)
-The metal things on the back of the door are eventually going to be worked into some kind of locking mechanism.
-I'm going to rig the light fixture to move up and down as the plant grows.
-please ask any questions about my set up.

I would love any advice or criticism.
As the comments come in ill make revisions to my design and post pictures. hopefully i can come to an acceptable design sometime soon and put the building into motion.

paint the inside of the box flat white. People use foil or mylar instead sometimes, but imo white paint ends up looking cleaner plus it has almost the same reflectivity as mylar and its better than foil. (about 86% i believe?). but ya. something reflective inside definitely. other than that it looks like a pretty sick setup. people might wonder why your dresser has an exhaust tube though lol

Ya with such a skinny space you may want side lighting to cover all the side branches, thats what id do.


Sick plans though, i like the nob locks, cool idea.

Looks great man... I would consider growing a strain that flowers in 9 weeks or less. Low Ryder, Cali Haze, or something that will be more short/stocky. The pot itself will take up a good amount of room keep in mind... Peace N Good Luck!

Hey Evlaar and thanks for the post. I have painted the inside white check out the first picture. And as for the exhaust coming out of my dresser… I’m either gunna tell people I put a hemi in it. Or, more realistically I’m just gunna put a bunch of crap in front of the tube to disguise it. Do you think a 2” tube is going to be thick enough?

Hey highhunter thanks for point in the right direction. I checked out some seedbanks for those strains and they seem pretty nice. I will have about 5’ in height to play with… how tall should the pot be?



And as a general question… who would you guys suggest as a good seed bank to buy from? Keep in mind, I do live in the U.S. and definitely don’t like the cops knocking on my door asking why I have seeds getting delivered to my house that has a dresser with an exhaust pipe in it.

I like where this box is going man. 2" exhaust isnt going to cut it though. My current setup is similar to yours if you were to lay it on its side. I have cooling problems with 4" exhaust and 2 big inline fans. cfls make little rooms like this into an ez bake oven of sorts lol, I would definitely try to use 4" exhaust if possible. in fact, do anything you can to make ventilation maximized. if you could somehow put a glass bottom on that top moving light fixture so you could directly exhaust it you would be golden!!

if you mean like the pic i posted... then yeah that's totally possible. would that cut from the light reaching the plant it self?
oh and i can totally get a 4" exhaust in there

basically like the picture you posted, but the thing needs to be sealed up with an exhaust tube directly on it that goes out the box. it needs an intake too, but you can just leave an open hole on the other side. This will suck out the heat from the majority of your lights before it ever even gets to the room, making it MUCH cooler. Idk anyone who has done this with cfls yet, but it would keep your box at least 10 degrees cooler. the glass doesnt affect the light getting to the plants, thats not an issue. but then when you move that fixture up and down you need to be able to not have the exhaust tube thats connected get in the way of anything. just things to keep in mind. if you pull off a room that looks like your drawing you will have a damn nice growroom my friend

I understand what your talking about but im way to high to draw it up right now haha. I think i may build this sucker next week with out the glass and all that and see how the temp is.

If the temp winds up way to high then I know what modifications ill be making thanks to you.

haha for sure man. good luck with all that. My setup uses a total of 8 26w cfls and 4 4' floros. i have 2 fat inline fans and 4 inch tubing for intake/exhaust. it is ducted to my house which never gets above 75. My temps are around 88 with all the lights running, including using a little ice box thing on my air intake to try to make it colder lol. My room is only slightly bigger than yours, which is technically supposed to make cooling easier. Just a heads up for the cfl heat issue. And as for the mylar vs white paint issue, the reflectivity is only a difference of about 3-4% if i remember correctly, and imo flat white paint is just easier to deal with and cheaper. it is true though that mylar is slightly more reflective. slightly. I'll check back later to see how the build went and how everythings going best of luck to you! . sweet.

I dont own a camera haha. im tryin to get one, because i want nothing more than to post pictures and have some super experts scope it and tell me why it cant cool off!!! haha but ya, I still got 7 ounces off 8 plants for my last harvest good luck building man, its by far the most fun part, until you grow the plants. then thats fun. its all fun. k im on a stoned ramble. peace

as i have learned here it is better by a few percent and if it is in my budget. I will most like cover the entire thing in mylar.
